I may be getting old, slow, unskilled but having recently come into DS I've hit my first personal 'brick wall'.
I'm at Smough and Ornstein and struggling immensely. I've been playing offline as I'm on Xbox and don't have a gold subscription, so today I've activated one of my emergency 24 hour codes I have laying around (you know, just in case silly) to see if I can get some help as Solaire hasn't cut it the couple of times I've tried him out and I'm getting looooooow on humanity now. I would just run around looking for signs to summon someone, but my three tries so far have all lead me to getting invaded and brutally defeated (either I suck or my build and gear does, perhaps both).
I'm in GMT and it's 7.45pm now and will lurk around here for another few hours to see if there are any kind souls willing and able to help. I'm SL 52 and my 360 name is Santez.

Oh, I guess while I'm here I'll run down what I'm using to see if it does totally suck for where I am.
Notable stats are vitality 20, endurance 21, dexterity 24 and intelligence 18.
I haven't picked up any pyromancies because I'm an idiot so just have regular and greater soul arrow sorceries with a tin banishment catlalyst.
I'm usually using Queelag's Furysword +3 (with a +5 lightning spear in case of fire resistance), a +5 eagle shield, Havel's helm, +2 silver knight armour, +2 silver knight leggings.
Does that totally suck? It's my first play through and I've tried to keep online spoilers to a minimum so I don't know if I'm decked out right at all!

Oh yeah, back the first point. If anyone can help I will love you forever happy

No, that doesn't suck. Not for a first playthrough, it's just a build that's nowhere near finished is all. You should be in good shape for NG Anor Londo with your +3 Furysword (fire works well on both bosses) and Eagle Shield. I'd love to help with my sl 55 Anor Londo co-op guy but I'm at work for another 6 hours.

Should be tons of summon signs in the bonfire room though. Hopefully you can get a couple summons before the next invader shows. If you run out of humanity you can always open the cage shortcut at Sen's Fortress to get up and down relatively fast, then you can farm humanity from the 3 rats beneath the Sunlight Altar bonfire.

*edit* oh, but if their electric butt-slams are what's getting you I'd recommend taking off your heavy armor and getting a fast roll so you can avoid that. Maybe at least try it that way, see how it feels.

I didn't know I could even get out of here before killing the bosses .I'll go have a look there to farm some humanity from the rats. I managed to pick up a few by helping kill the bosses with my own sign dropped so I know I can do it with a sun-bro or someone. Of course, I immediately lost them by unhollowing to look for signs and getting invaded. I wish I could do the 700 or so damage a hit the invaders do to me rather than the 100 or so I manage silly
Oh, I'm medium rolling with havel's ring so I can usually dodge the lightning-butt (when I roll in the right direction). I just die from many other things. It's lucky if I even manage to kill one of them! At least I'm not giving up.

Yeah, unfortunately you'll have little chance against invaders yet since their gear is all maxed out and optimized to kill you and you only, but if you go on to NG+ the same sl 45 guys will be invading you and you'll be all powered up and probably sl 100 or more and you can hand it back to them.

You may have tried this, but since you're helping others maybe message them afterwards asking if they can put their sign down to help you too.

Thanks for the idea of hunting those rats, callipygias. It didn't quite turn out like that.. it turned into an epic side adventure. I figured while I was in the area I'd kill the bridge drake in the Parish, then decided why not go back to the Asylum and see what was going on. Killed the stray demon, picked up the peculiar doll and remembered anout what the painting in Anor Londo said.. but before I went there I picked a random direction to head in, went into the catacombs and somehow made it all the way to Pinwheel and killed him with about 1/4 of a health bar left and no estus flasks without using a bonfire since Firelink as I didn't want to get trapped if the area was too difficult. I happened to find the the Dark Moon ring as well and have used that to kill Dark Sun Gwyndolin... I'm now in the Painted World and am ready to see what's in there.
Smough and Ornstein still live, but it was a rather successful night anyway happy

ill be in Anor Londo later today with a 50 SL character. ill leave my summon sign there for you and probably will be there all day. glad to help if you still need it. Ren and stimpy arent all that hard as long as you hit hard and move fast. shields arent necessary

I couldn't find your soul sign but I thought I'd give them another go seeing as I was back there. And it succeeded. Thanks for the advice and offers happy
