Hello fellow dark ones. I'm new here, and would like to talk about how my play style has changed since word of the various nerfs came out. I immediately rolled a few new characters and ditched the DWGR on all of them. For almost a year now my toons have all been dex/faith/int/pyro types. I tried strength weapons in the beginning, but gave up quickly since I felt they were too slow.
Then I saw martyrsbrigade99's video series on strength builds and I decided to give it a go. The first week I got slaughtered in PVP, getting used to the mid-roll while most everyone else was still ninja flipping. Then I started to get used to the timing of things and winning a few matches, even against DWGR wearers. At that point I quit focusing so much on winning, and focused instead on just having fun. Little victories mattered more than winning the entire match. An aerial launch of my opponent using the Demon's Greataxe meant I was making progress.
Recently I have decided to take it to the next level - the FAT ROLL! I decided a strength build should be slow, like a tank, so I loaded up the high poise armor so I could take hits while dishing out massive damage with the strength weapons. Lately I discovered Havel's shield - never used it before due to it's ridiculous weight, inability to parry, and str requirements, but now that I am only fat rolling, it makes perfect sense. The thing is a beast! Got pyro? Come at me bro...magic? bring it on...
So now I'm entering what I previously considered DERP territory: heavy armor, big shield and - wait for it - the BKGA!!! I tried that axe early on in my DS career but quickly thought the moveset was boring and put it down. But it is perfect for the new tank, since he needs something that can strike quickly. The BKGA delivers in that regard with it's awesome 2-H R1.
So you see, now I've turned almost fully DERP. Heavy armor, big-*** shield, BKGA....and now, yes, MASK of the Child! Need stamina regen for a tank ya'll!
And there ya have it - I've become fully DERP, and no one is more surprised than I. The only difference is I cannot flip around like a ninja and that's ok, cuz that's the way it's supposed to be. Soon I will be fighting the ninja DERP's on their own turf, and let us see how they fare without their precious....BRING ON THE FAT ROLLING DERP WARS!
Amen...
