Today, I just beat Dark Souls on SL 1:

    - Including the DLC
    - Without assistance (With the exception of Sif against Manus)
    - Without parrying Gwyn
    - Without Pyromancy or any form of magic
    - Beating O&S with a non-elemental weapon

All of a sudden, whatever my character is wearing looks totally awesome...
Anyways, now is the time I consider myself a veteran player.

So aside from this personal glorification...lets get into a topic. When was it that you considered yourself a Dark Souls veteran player, if ever?

How the hell did you beat the DLC bosses solo at level 1?

I don't doubt you, it just seems impossible to me, or at least impossible to do in less than 3 hours a piece.

    EDIT: Pardon my rudeness, congratulations.

In PvE : when i first beat NG+7 on my sl 80 lifehunter toon,
In PvP : When i first beat a 1v3, after they had used ~15 estus flasks. Plus, i killed the host with a parry.

I wouldn't call beating Demon's Souls makes you a veteran. I mean I played Dark Souls first then played Demon's Souls and I found Demon's Souls to be much easier then Dark Souls, just my experience though.

I think I thought of myself as a 'Veteran' of Dark Souls after well spending 100 of hours playing it really. Dark Souls is perhaps the one game that I've nearly clocked over 1000 hours (that might be an exateration but still I've played it a ton).

I did a soul level one playthrough. Granted, I didn't do what you did. I upgraded a reinforced club to lightning +5, parried Gwyn, and used pyromancy (not as much as I thought I would though). It was hell. Even though I've beaten the game over 5 times (once on NG+ and an additional time on NG++) I still consider myself to be 'meh' at this game. I still get destroyed in PvP.

I already beat it like 12 times before Dark Souls was even announced...AND I beat it at SL 1 too.

How the hell did you beat the DLC bosses solo at level 1?
Sanctuary Guardian: Heavy Crossbow +15, shoot each time it leaves an opening. Namely, the Sanctuary Guardian has many openings during long-distance attacks or after it lands. I NEVER confronted it up-close Melee (in fact, I never even used a melee weapon; practically impossible to handle it Melee).
Artorias: It took me about 4 hours to beat this guy, the quick jab saps half your HP and practically kills you if he is buffed. I had to bait a couple of particular moves (triple front flip or high jumping attack) to make safe pokes for about 10 minutes. He was never easy because the first slip off will end with your death.
Manus: Easy actually. Manus leaves himself open after most of his attacks. The key is to punish Manus, not let him punish you.

Kalameet: Same deal as Sanctuary Guardian, although you have to punish him DURING his attack animations or else he'll be burning you into ash as he catches you in the recovery frames. It was as tough as Artorias, but it took me only an hour, cause crossbows are easier than melee.

Balder Shield +15, Heavy Crossbow +15 and DWGR and your best friends in SL 1 playthroughs.
And you have to have farmed the pure bladestone yourself.
LOL. That accursed black skeleton was a real jerk with that ore.Luckyly I just soulsucker farmed him (the irony was I got 2 of those, but I never wanted them, I just wanted his souls. I was never fond of DEX in DeS, but at least i was smart at that time and got the trophy.)

I will never consider myself a PVE vet until I beat NG+7 on a character under level 100, and I will never consider myself a PVP vet until I face a few more people on my "list."

Therefore I will never become a PVE vet, but my dream may come true for PVP within the next couple of months.

Congrats dude, ive done a starting lvl playthrough with 0poise,no elemental, and no DWGR(guess that doesnt matter as much now). Still haven't done the DLC at low lvl though, well i got past artorias with a SL10 then just decided i wanted to take my pvp builds through real quick. DLC is by far the hardest part of the low level playthroughs now, the bosses and mobs have such good elemental defense and elementals were nerfed.

PvE- I guess it was when I Soloed the Four Kings at SL 7 and more recently when I beat Arty without resorting to Poise Stacking!

PvP- When I was Gravelording and have 5 people rapidly invade me in the space of 5 mins.... almost constantly had three phantoms trying to kill me.

You're a veteran when you stop doubting yourself of being one. Congrats on the SL 1 run though, not something someone challenges everyday and completes.

I felt like a veteran when I did my no-shield playthrough. Why? Cause I can pretty much do any content as a tank. Str build is my favorite, and not too long ago, I combined that with some faith, and I've been loving it. I rarely die big grin

So, I decided to stretch my limits, play the game with no shield as a pyromancer with a fire G.Halberd. Died 57 times to S&O. But I beat the game and NG+ as well.

So, I feel worthy. I mainly don't do a SL1 playthrough because I enjoy using the weapons I pick up. Using a completely new weapon is SO much fun. I'm having 10 times more fun on this new Int/Dex build, which I've never done before, because I started using Velka's Rapier.

The day I feel like a veteran will be the day I don't get butt-raped by those damn hollows! Bosses, not a problem. Darkwraiths, eat em for breakfast. Balder Knights, p's on em, in my sleep! But your average every day hollow will always get me when I'm least expecting it, and it really, REALLY, grinds my gears!

Mind you, beating the Taurus Demon, both Bell Gargoyles, the Capra Demon (and it's two mutts), the Gaping Dragon, Quelaag, the Iron Golem, and O&S, with nothing but buffed Caestus's came pretty close!

It's just a shame that I've had to put my Caestus run on hold, whilst I make my way to the DLC (I got it on disc, which doesn't recognise my old saves).

Never. Though i consider myself a great companion in co-op. happy

As for pvp i wouldn't say i'm good at it either, but my winning rate has rapidly increased lately, so perhaps i could consider myself a pvp veteran soon enough?:3
