Ever done rooftop hopping in Red Dead Redemption? It's quite similar to what you are describing, you had to jump at the right time so you wouldn't hit the ground wrong. If you undershot you'd just fall and possibly die. It was pretty fun while doing some wild west shooting.

Re: Assassins Creed III
I've just played the second one for a bit. (My mate brought it over.) I'm pleasantly surprised, not saying it's the greatest thing under the sun by any means , but the mostly fluid climbing , the cityscapes and the soundtrack make exploring a tonne of fun whilst being quite relaxing after a hard day at the office. I've borrowed it permanently now. It's a nice change of pace from the rpgs I usually play.

Wait a second, you still can't kill the civilians? Why?
Can you imagine the fun of being able to screw around just killing everyone?

Yeah I find myself often skipping episodes of the playthrough I'm watching. It just gets so dull.

Re: Assassins Creed III
I have heard good things about the Multiplayer, so maybe that is a saving grave if you don't have a gaming PC. But still, I don't really think that is enough of a selling point.
Since a lot of the development went into the singleplayer.

Multi-player is terrible. I played it previously... Complete and utter waste of money.

Well it's basically The Ship isn't it, but less in depth?

Re: Assassins Creed III
Well one thing to note is that Assassin's Creed and Dark Souls are a bit of opposites.
AC has very simple combat that is easy, Dark Souls has in depth combat that is difficult.
AC is more about feeling powerful, dark souls is about kicking you in the balls at every chance.
Perhaps when you take into consideration that the people on the site like Dark Souls, it makes sense if a lot of us don't like AC.

Re: Assassins Creed III
It's pretty tiring seeing people compare games constantly. Nobody has to like anything, but if there's to be an assassins creed thread, what's the point with filling it up full of 'it's rubbish compared to x,y,z.' Eh just my thoughts on it...

Re: Assassins Creed III
Well Big was more so asking about the game and seeing what other people's opinions of it was. He just bought it and had no experience, no one else seemed to respond so I gave my views of it. You are right that perhaps, the thread should be titled differently. Like, "Just bought AC3." Then if people want a thread to just discuss the game, well I wouldn't come in and bash it. This was sort of a thread for people who don't like the game it seems.

Re: Assassins Creed III
You're right. I just bought it on a whim, without having done any research. I failed to prepare and now I must suffer. I'm just going to give it to a friend.
It seems DKS is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing in that it is easily the most enjoyable, memorable, and satisfying game I have ever played. A curse in that my taste for games is now so refined that I just can't eat the junk food anymore, which is mostly everything else.
Since DKS I have enjoyed Dragons Dogma, Dead Space 2, and Borderlands 2. I have played many others but couldn't get into them. I just got Halo 4 and while it is impressive and fun as Halo ever was, I still find myself switching to DKS after an hour or so of Halo.

Re: Assassins Creed III
Onion is right though, I think we were being a bit too harsh on the game. I still don't really like it and think it is a bad game. But maybe we should have kept this to ourselves.

I just miss the first AC where you start the game stabbing someone in the neck and the not so linear story after # 2 it was all down hill from there at least watch dogs looks great
