Yeah we say Brasil at national language. Football is Futebol because we brazilians have the horrible reputation of taking english words and transforming into something "easier" to say. If one day you come here, you will see the people here (mostly poor people who think its stylish speak another language) transforms every english word into something easier to spell

ah i see, well it would make sense to change them into words that are spelled with the syllables that Brazilians speak, kinda like the way I used to see chinese guys when they first come into my old school (a lot of them attended coming over from hong kong) if they didnt know how to spell something, they'd just write it phonetically using syllables from Cantonese or Mandarin.
