PvP suicide question
Sorry if this has been asked/ answered previously. The last several PvP fights I've had in Oolacile Township, my invader has unceremoniously jumped off a cliff to her/ his doom as their health was getting low. Each time I have been unable to recover their humanity/ souls as a spoil of defeating my invader. Do PvPers do this to deny their opponent the reward?, or is there a way to recover it that I haven't realized? Is there any other reason why they might be diving off of cliffs, or benefit to them?

Re: PvP suicide question
Yeah it must be a way of them refusing to give you a reward for beating them.

Re: PvP suicide question
Well that's good to know, though the humanity I'd rather have haha. Quite a shrewd thing to do, especially given they were the aggressors.

Re: PvP suicide question
There is a slight difference here between PVP and being invaded. At least to me there is . I jumped off a cliff twice, because one I was summoned to a gank fest and the other, in the middle of a duel (where I was summoned for fair pvp) the host started to flasks. In either occasion I wasn't up for it. If it was an invasion then that does suck. It makes no sense. I guess people just don't like to lose.

Re: PvP suicide question
Interesting distinction, ted1023. In my case I was invaded. And it happens fairly frequently, especially in Oolacile Township I've noticed, folks diving to their deaths just before defeat. But I must say--and I hope I don't take hate--I did use flasks in one or two instances. Is that considered bad form when you are invaded to heal if you take a big hit? My character has largely been spec'd for PvE and I never invade others. So I don't know the rules for honorable PvPing I guess

If you are being invaded it is completely fine to flask. They invaded your world. You did not summon them to duel.

Re: PvP suicide question
What bmurn said. If you are invaded and are questing, do anything you can to stay alive. Flask, flask your phantoms, swarm the invader, run away, spam WoG, GC, etc.
This is coming from a dedicated invader too. I expect that. That is part of the fun of invading. What is not fun is invading campers who are only there to jump.

I was also being invaded in the forest, so the people who disconnected was invading me to PvP and yet still they disconnect after death or when almost dead.

Reasons to suicide? Boredom, some play styles (turtles) just aren't worth the time it takes to ware them down.

Re: PvP suicide question
What is a turtle exactly? Is that heavy armor heavy shield lots of health? I rock light to medium armor so I go down easy, especially when I get teleport backstabbed.. which still happens frustratingly often. Oddly I've never affected a backstab on my invader. Again I'm a faith build spec'd for PvE so I have a lot to learn about PvP. Just rolled a new character for that purpose. Need to practice.

I live close enough to Park Slope to walk my dog to the large park there when I get bored of Fort Greene park. Nice area, but expensive these days.

Turtle is more of a verb in pvp, basically the shield never goes down and the attack only comes at the safest time possible, forcing opponents to bs or status effect the player. The irritating part isn't that they defend, its that they don't engage.
As for the disconnects, yeah that's just to be a **** if they're just invading.
