Okay, I'm practicing how to parry in pvp, and it's really hard because in PvE you can parry just before the enemy HITS you, but in PVP because of the lag you have to parry BEFORE he SWINGS his/her weapon, so you have to guess when he is going to attack. I'm good (not perfect) with parrying with claws (I have a Wolverine build, with high vit and end and elemental weapons), but I would like to know which other weapons are good for parrying attacks.

Bandits Knife is one of the best imo... best critical hit rating...
dark hand for riposte mayb also fits you because its a little bit delayed when riposting

I mean for parrying, not for riposte, for riposte I use my current weapon, whichever it is.

The parrying dagger might help. I've only been parried once in pvp and it was most impressive.

The parry animation for the parrying dagger it's too long, I need something that parries fast as hell so if I miss the first I can try it again quickly.

Re: Parrying in PvP
Something fast as hell? The thrusting swords are the answer, my friend (rapier, estoc, and mail breaker). Their parry animation is ultra-quick with very little cool down. Give it a shot.

Re: Parrying in PvP
Thanks for the tip, but isn't the Mail breaker useless? The Estoc and rapier have the same moveset (I believe), longer range, and higher damage.

Re: Parrying in PvP
NOOOOOOO use the heather shield
it has the fast parry with very little cooldown AND it has 100% physical block

Re: Parrying in PvP
The mailbreaker isn't my prefered off-hand weapon. The estoc is probably the best choice if you don't mind a little extra weight (not much). Scudman's suggestion is also good. I would try both and see which you prefer.
On-hand is a completely different story. As far as I know, the mailbreaker is one of the best critical hitting weapons in the game.

Re: Parrying in PvP
I have a low level claw build and if I try to parry I switch to my lightning bandit's knife. I also tend to "fish" for a parry using my chaos claw in my off-hand. Try to lure them into an attack and parry right before you think they'll make an attack.

I tried with parrying shield and it did not ended very well, I would suggest any medium shield, dark hand or something like

Re: Parrying in PvP
400 hours, thousands of invasions, and I have only been parried/riposte once in PvP.
It was with parrying dagger.
I killed the kid, but I sent him a message telling him it was a pretty sweet move to pull it off.

Re: Parrying in PvP
I find the best weapon to parry in pvp is a rapier classed weapon. The parry window is small but its cooldown is very fast and it can be spammed much faster, although I prefer to do a 2nd hit parry so I'll use a shield like a grass crest shield, block first hit and parry second hit. Although I do use dual claws alot and like you said you just have to predict the opponent. Most 2H weapons are easy to predict.
