Lautrec and the ring.

It's my first playthrough and I need a second opinion. I'm working on a DEX.build and was thinking about killing Lautrec to get the Ring of Favor. But I thought about getting his armor instead. So what do you guys think is worth getting on a first playthrough?

If it's your first playthrough and you want both, then why not get both? You should be able to make it through to Anor Londo without the ring.

Edit: Based on your post i will assume you don't know, so just to make things more clear. If you defeat him in Anor Londo he drops both his armour set and the ring, however he kills the Firelink Shrine Fire Keeper, which may be a pain in the *** to some, so do keep in mind that once you kill him and get the Fire Keeper Soul, make sure you return it to the Fire Keeper.

Correction Trolololololololololololololololololololo... upon defeating him he only drops the RoFaP (and a number of other items), the armour appears later on in the game on a body in the far corner of the balcony area above the O&S Boss Fight arena, so there!

Ah, I see. I thought if I compleated the questline, I could only get the armor but not the ring. thanks.

Well, he obviously drops it on the body, duh! He has two sets. :evil:

You could possibly miss out on both however, if you don't invade him, so i do suggest you check the wiki about it or read the item description of the item you find once the quest is actually activated, so keep an eye on the Firelink Shrine Fire Keeper!

Edit: Actually, i may be wrong on the part about missing out on both. Either way, i do suggest you look it up, though do so with caution if you fear facing spoilers.

Nah, you can get both, but as Trolololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololo... has already said do not, and I repeat DO NOT, use the Fire Keepers soul that you get after beating Laurie to upgrade your flask, but return it back to the Firelink Shrine Fire Keeper's Cell (beneath the fire) as this is the only way that you can reignite this particular fire once Laurie has offed Anastacia.
