I love playing Rome Total War(even though the Romans are sneaky bastards lol), but I need something new, I don't want another total war game, mostly because they're coming out with Rome 2. I just need something new to hold me over til then, any suggestions?

XCOM baby. Red Alert is one of my favorites and Starcraft looks epic.

I'm yet to try the second one, but the first one was an absolutely incredible game. Probably flushed as much my adolescence down the Starcraft toilet as I have my current life with DkS. If not even more.

Everything Onion Knight said, and then add Supreme Commander - The most complete strategy game ever created.

Warlords Battlecry-series.
Classic fantasy war stragedy (Humans, Orcs, Dwarves, Elves, Barbarians, Demons...etc.) where you level up your hero and fight with your army.
Really liked this series because of how much your hero affects your army.

I prefer Civilization: Call to Power over the main Civilization series myself. I mean, how can you *not* love this guy?BIG TIME MASTER wrote:Civilization V.

This times a thousand. It's not necessarily a traditional strategy game, but it's my favorite to implement complex tactics or strategies into.

Mount and Blade series is awesome, though I'd define it more as a simulator.

you're right, but its all in how you like to play. formations, trading, diplomacy, etc. are all part of the game but yes, the core gameplay isnt strategy, but it has most of its elements

Re: Good strategy games
TBH, I never thought about it being a strategy game because I never played it like that, but it really could be now that you mention it. It's limitless! I always just pillaged the land so my style was pretty simple.
Horseback archery in that game is probably the funnest gameplay in any game ever created.
