most of them are useful but it depends, some of them are better for pve and some are better pvp. also some are A LOT easier to use and some are harder to use which is why you always see the same spells and the same weapons.

Don't write something off as "not useful." If you're interested in it, read up on its stats and what it needs in order to be successful, maybe you'll find you like a weapon everyone thinks sucks.

Alot of R2 attacks are useless mainly because of the speed but there are some weapons that are completely useless because there's another weapon in it's class that out does it in every way. The morning star is a prime example of this with it being weaker in base damage, scaling and moveset compared to the reinforced club. Most of the knives are useless compared to the bandit knife and there are many shields that have no use due to them being really unbalanced in a negative way. Also the black knight halberd R2 one handed move needs fixing. The black knights can hit twice with it why can you.

Every weapon has a use. Some are more difficult to use than others, and some have more obvious advantages, and some have a portion of merit only in aesthetics, but I think saying most are useless is inaccurate.

I've been using whips and broken swords a lot lately.. and winning. Most things have a use, you just have to figure out what that is. For example the broken sword is good for making people who take themselves too seriously feel stupid.

For the weight, it breaks defense very well. You're blocking this? Not for long.
Also, the R1 can land pretty rapidly once you're hitting for relatively low stamina's drain. Since there's no combo move (only one R1 animation) anyone trying it out might conclude it's too slow to be effective. You need to battle test it to see the real speed

I wanna say yes but I don't pay close attention to that and I use the bloodshield a lot. All the resistance change bars are usually going nuts for me so I might not remember it right
