That happens in dark souls discussions too. I'm probably one of the few who thinks like this, but in my opinion there shouldn't be reputation/points counts at all. It is too often a way to punish someone disagreeing with the mainstream opinion or simply a way to punish someone disagreeing with you. I won't name any names, but some members here get way too much negative reps just because they often get into arguments and they like to defend their views. I honestly don't think anyone should have worse than zero reputation.Emergence wrote:...having rep count would run the risk of an unpopular opinion being piled on with negative rep...
I realize the purpose of positive reputation, but it has many problems too. For example, i have a fairly good reputation but vast majority of it comes from one single thread and a few thanks that i've received, and i feel it is a bit silly. Of course I appreciate every single thanks and + i've received but i don't want anyone to think my opinions or dark souls knowledge is something more than theirs just because i have a higher reputation. This of course applies to everyone and not just me. I don't mean to sound hypocritical in any way, i just simply don't like the whole reputation/point system very much.
