It has a shorter model, however. Has anyone done any testing with it to see if it has less reach than the Claymore? Is it perhaps a little faster?

Not sure about speed, but it is a bit shorter, so the reach should be shorter as well. It also has different 1H R2...not sure about 2H R2.
I've been using in low SL PvP and PvE for some time, but I quickly returned to Claymore for it's, at least for me, better moveset.

The Claymore definetly has more reach, as well as better 1H R2 with massive reach.
The only upside I can see to using the Bastard Sword over the Claymore is that you can get as many as you want, while the claymore is only one per play through.

Bastard has more power as well, even though its not much.

It's got some nostalgia to it to. I remember finding it in demon's and it being a lifesaver. (Depending on your starting class) no weapon is a bad weapon in this game anyway. I'll use it for pvp tonight since the patch is out. Hope to see someone else being more unique to. I understand, optimal stats. But i really enjoy different fights. Cookie cutter builds get boring. Win or lose.

I have a +15 clay & bastard sword and although the bastard has better dmg its the slowest grt sword and has one of the shortest reaches.
