Our very first deaths!

A thread like this has probably been done before, but it fo' sho' ain't active no' mo'.

I thought it would be a fun idea to let everyone share their very first death in Dark Souls. I'm sure there's a couple interesting stories in there.

I'll just start off and shamefully confess that my first was the asylum demon, first encounter. I didn't notice the door to the left right away so i just ran around like an idiot and he smashed me TT_TT
That actually happened twice before i noticed the door. *facepalm*

So don't be shy, let us all hear how your first death was!

Mine was dumb. I saw an undead hollow 'praying' near where the Transient Curse was. I kicked him, my lock-on bugged out and i fell too. Facepalmed myself so hard.

My first death was also by Asylum Demon. I've reached the porch above him, where you're supposed to do a plunging attack, but instead of doing that, I was looking down at him, observing him, when he suddenly flew up and...

Ohgod this is soooo long ago, but the first death I really remember was when I first got to Firelink Shrine. I already read about the goodies lying around and saw some of those enticing glowies down near the graveyard.... needless to say I went running headlong to the winged spear only to be surrounded by 2 skeletons from behind and a behemouth skeleton grandaddy stand up in front of me... literally dropped bricks right there and got squashed!

Yep, same here. Outside of the asylum, who hasn't immediately run down to the catacombs, assuming that was the right way to go?

I haven't actually Doesn't the crestfallen guy say something about going up first? I never went into the catacombs until i started looking for blighttown. I did however naively try to fight the skeletons and got totally f*cked by them.

You talked to the NPC meant to give you directions? bah
I also thought by down in blighttown he meant new londo lol.

I didn't go to the Catacombs themselves as those skeletons at the graveyard were more than enough to kill me quite a few times, but I didn't give up and cleared the graveyard eventually, before going to Burg.

My first death...well lets say trying to cross a small gap to reach a certain ring in very early game made me lose my patience. It didn't get any better when i found out what that fabled speck of light was used for. :suspect:

My girlfriend died there three times, before she finally reached that mystical treasure.
Gf: "Oooo a ring! What does it do?"
Me: "It breaks when you die, but you don't lose any souls and Humanity that way."
All excited, she puts it on, tries to jump back, while she's promptly welcomed by a firebomb in her face, resulting in her fall and imminent death.
Me: "You didn't have the ring for very long."
Gf: "Shut up!"

First one i remember was that danm well at firelink. HOW could you not jump down that.

I didn't even know you could jump in there.

My first few deaths were against the graveyard skeletons, I'd read that dark souls was super hard so I just thought I had to be awesome and beat them, spent half an hour dying to skeletons before I found the path to the burg

I died in the Undead Burg first .
But not to any Enemys there no...Remember when this one Hollow kicks this Flaming Barrel down the Stairs ?
That didnt kill me but it threw me down on a Ledge ( i hope you know where i mean) and i just couldnt figure out how to get away from there ( i later did)...
So i ended up jumping down into the unknown depths below causing me to Die .

Pretty sad . I managed to Defeat every Enemy without dieing once on my first playthrough and i die because of my stupidity

Thats awesome! It would've been nice if ...(drawing a blank) the man sitting at firelink at the start, if he made fun of you after jumping in there. I can't say i honestly expected to find a hidden area. But...i had to jump.

Also, skeletons parrying scared the bejesus outta me. I didn't go back for awhile after that. The sound it makes. The utter helplessness you feel while your character flails and get stabbed. Was horrible. I was terrified of them after that.

Honestly. My first few hours or so was very depressing in some ways. One way the immortal hosts. Or so they seemed. The parrying skeletons. Even the SAFE path was harsh. I love this game.

nyone actually make it past a boss, taurus or otherwise without dying? (Or using a guide)

the first death that i vividly remember was to the rat in the aqueduct. i made it past the asylum demon just fine, i killed him in demon's souls enough times to know his tricks, so when i come up to this rat i figure it's just a rat and i'm a knight in heavy armour, so…wait what…stop pushing me! oh gawds! poisoned! get me the frell out of…"you died"…son-of-a!

took me forever to find blight town too…at first i thought it must be past all the the riuns , it's filled with zombies just lounging about. must be an area for beginners right? but then there were the ghosts, you can't hit them or block them and there are sooooo many of them. who the frell would ever want to go this way! wait what's this? another gate? and it leads to a valley filled with lighting spewing dragons GWAH! oh there's a tunnel? i'll try that this time. what are these giant lumbering jerks with clubs? okay, ummm, now i know what a tent peg feels like, lets not go that way. how about this graveyard looking place, skeletons? i remember these guys, only these ones are smaller and cute…oh my gawd! that's a big mamajama! and these little dudes parry! jebus! save me!

like most people i went to the graveyard and just got killed over and over again, i ended up with the zwei and the spear which i never used since i got the bkugs from the bk on the burg and i used it for my first play through until i found the DGM, my favorite weapon in the game.

Ruining the game with a guide, or wiki? No thanks.
I even was offline the first time.

Taurus was easy and fun fight for the first time, because I was still under the impression that there's no way in hell I can block his attacks. I also failed to notice the ladder there until after the fight, because I was pissed thanks to several arrows in my back.

Gargoyles were AWESOME!
When I saw the second HP bar, my scarred soul cried out as I remembered Maneaters from Demon's Souls. The second Gargoyle dissapointed me. He just spams firebreath, has half HP and very low defence, making him easy to kill, or ignore. Solaire, with his welltimed Lightning Spear killed the first Gargoyle, when he was about to hit me with his halberd and finish me off. I'm a Sunbro ever since then.
