Over here(a wee bit to the west ) we have grades going from 1-10, 1 being worst and 10 being best. 5.5 would be the score to shoot for, that's the one you see andMarino. wrote:Here in Germany we use numbers for grades with 1 being the best and 6 the worst .
If you count all the grades together and divide them through the numbers of Classes (usually eight) you had you get the Average grade which was 2,4 in my case .

Re: Random Off-Topic
If I did all the homework tonight, that I'm supposed to have finished by tomorrow, I'd have read 300 pages of a novel, written just under 2 pages in response, read 4 pages of the heaviest, most overly complex, mental masturbatory textbook pages you can imagine, and then written a 5 minute presentation on it for tomorrow afternoon. It's unreal. Naturally I'm just going to get away with doing what's graded, and catch up on the reading when I have more time.

Re: Random Off-Topic
Y'know you could've just read 15 pages of the novel and you'd have had more than enough info to write a 2-page response. Corner-cutter extraordinaire - this guy------------>>>>>>
EDIT: Whoops! Misread. That's what I would have done myself, Plastic.

Holy ****, I don't think I would be able to do all of that in one day. That's not all from the same teacher is it?PlasticandRage wrote:If I did all the homework tonight, that I'm supposed to have finished by tomorrow, I'd have read 300 pages of a novel, written just under 2 pages in response, read 4 pages of the heaviest, most overly complex, mental masturbatory textbook pages you can imagine, and then written a 5 minute presentation on it for tomorrow afternoon. Re: Random Off-Topic
I feel for you Plastic. This was my worst class experience:
Professor: here, read Cicero's Treatise on law. Have it read and prepare to discuss for next week. Also, there's only two of you in the class. So be REALLY prepared to discuss.
Me: OK
P: OK you did alright. Read it again to discuss more deeply next week.
M: Suuure
P: I guess this went alright. Read Meditations by Aurelius
Read that a few times. On to Aquinas Treatise on Law.....six times
Edit: 300 pages though? Skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim

It just seems like a bit much even for a college class, well at least to me.

Re: Random Off-Topic
The 300 pages and the 2 page responses are all for the same teacher. The other stuff is what I'd say is a normal amount of homework for a single class that I have tomorrow. She assigned an entire novel, albeit a children's novel, but still a novel, and 250 pages of another, more advanced novel, all for the same night. It's crazy. This professor is pretty much the reason I'm quitting my job. There's no way I can keep up with a consistent work load like this all semester and be a full-time cook. It's just not possible. I'm already almost 200 pages behind in my reading and it's only the third week of the semester. I'm almost never behind. I'm an A student.

Re: Random Off-Topic
It's my capstone course. Which is essentially like the most advanced course you take for your major before you graduate. Each semester a few different subjects, with a few different professors, are offered. This semester it was either Urban Fantasy, or something else, that I remember sounding less appealing when I was registering, so I went for Urban Fantasy. The subject matter is really cool, and I'm really enjoying what reading I've actually been able to do in a fashion that allows me to relax while I'm doing it. The work load is just too much. I'm actually going to be writing a paper on the Watchmen for this class in the near future.

Re: Random Off-Topic
^Good topic to write a paper on.
On an unrelated note, I puked after my workout today. Was in the shower feeling like death, so I went back to the locker room and sat on the bench for a bit, and then I suddenly threw up in my mouth! My mouth was full of vomit, cheeks bulging with it, but I still had to throw up, so I swallowed it and then I threw up again. I didn't want it to explode all over the locker room, so I covered my mouth while I kept regurgitating my puke until I could make my way to the toilet and let it out in there. Later, I washed the taste away with a chocolate milk and a coffee crisp.
Just thought I'd share that story.
I just don't know how not to train as hard as I can at the gym!

That is both disgusting, and very familiar to me. I work myself much harder than I should when working out, and my poor health always reminds me of that.

I saw a guy trying to do that once, and puke started spraying out of his nose. It was epic.

So a genius I'm chatting with on the Xbox Support Chat just asked me if I "have ever been able to connect to Xbox LIVE."
I guess my years of Gold Membership weren't enough of a clue.

^Maybe he assumed you'd been paying for Live for all this time and just didn't use it...
I hate when tech support gives you help assuming you're a complete idiot. We gave my "brother in law" a Sony Reader for Christmas, only he lives in the UK and the reader only gives options to setup a canadian or american account. So I chat with Sony support asking if he could download a different firmware to set up a UK account on it. The answer I got was "go to the options and select UK as your region".

^ I think they have to ask you all that stuff in order. I've found, in my dealings with phone tech support, that they're protocol is usually set up so that they can help the dumbest possible person still able to use a phone. I had to call the tech support line for my router once, and it was ridiculous. He walked me through plugging in the ethernet cable.

Actually, you'd be surprised. My router was malfunctioning for a while, and I tried everything that would make sense. Finally, the solution was actually to unplug all the power sources and re-plug it... Sometimes the actual solution is a lot stupider than we expect. He walked me through plugging in the ethernet cable.

Sometimes having a tech support guy asking you dumb questions actually work. Long story short I have some real idoit girls in my class who make me question how they get into high school I sorry but can it really take an hour to realize that your pc battery died?

^ I'd been interrupting him in the beginning, trying to explain what I'd already done, and what I thought to try to do, and in the end it was just easier to let him go through his whole pre-written spiel. Routers are such finicky little machines anyway. I don't think I've ever owned that's worked correctly for longer than a couple of weeks.
