Slimes vs. Leeches

It seems people really like the Slimes in the Depths for farming titanite. Why is that, they can be a pain to kill and they rarely drop anything?

The Leeches drop titanite like it's going out of style, am I missing something?

Note: I know I can just buy the stuff, but I'm just posing a question here.

I always hated the slimes. Leeches are more plentiful and they drop titanite like no other.

I'm more partial to leeches, but I often farm slimes instead because I don't want to travel all the way back to the Asylum then all the way across Blighttown to farm so leeches. I'm only going to use the items till Anor Londo, and then I can buy the materials there.

I simply rather farm the slimes because I'm too lazy to bother running all the way back up to Andre or whoever else it is to just ascend, and then go back to farming. Plus I really don't like being poisoned, so I'd rather just stay in the Depths and farm me some slimes while waiting for jolly co-op

But the drop rate is just foul. If you just dedicate a little while to farming Leeches you could have enough L. titanite to last you for a good while, and green titanite? You're set for 2 playthroughs at least.

Slimes are harmless, easy to kill, close to bonfire and very weak to fire.
They have lower drop rate.

Leeches are further away from bonfire, meaning some traveling, especially through poison swamp and they actually can kill you if you do something silly.
They drop titanite like crazy and drop Green titanite Shards in stacks of five, which is very usefull.


If I'm PvP ready and have Gaping Dragon alive, I farm slimes and welcome occasional invader. If not, leeches all the way. Just have to stack on Homeward Bones.

They both have their ups and downs. In the Depths you can do a farming run of about a dozen slimes faster than you can hold your breath. But they're strong against physical damage.

The leeches have a higher drop rate I think, and they're weaker, and there's more of them but you have to travel farther to get them and deal with the poison swamp

If you have pyro the slimes are easy, but they still have terrible drop rates. I always farm the leeches, the only problem being that you need the rusted ring, which means there's no room for the Gold Serpent one if you're using FaP.

I tend to farm leeches more often since they have a higher drop rate. It takes a bit longer but at least you're more likely to get a drop from them. Last time I farmed slimes it could take more than three runs before they finally dropped something that just got aggravating.

Elemental weapons, especially Fire ones, work well too.
Magic is also an option, but it does less damage.

I farm phalanxes for souls and go buy all of this from Gough and the Giant Blacksmith.

But i'd go for slimes because they're weak to fire, are close to the bonfire, and you don't get poisoned every *** 10 seconds and spammed by mosquitos

slimes USED to be the first thing you got too meaning you could have a +10 weapon for queelag, but now most people skip the dpeths or just go in for the emeber.

I farm the Balder Knights in Sens while I do some co-op. I'll break any useless chunks I get in the Great Hollow for green titanite if I'm not in the mood to farm the slugs.

Why are people bothered about getting poisoned in the swamp? Poison hardly hurts at all. I would understand if the gripe was that the swamp slows you down (sans Rusted Ring) but not the poison.

Leeches, Slimes are way easier to kill. I always seems to get a lot more shards though from the leeches.

Well, i was farming in the swamp while waiting for getting summoned with my sunbro. I one shot kill them and they actually have a very good drop rate. But the slimes... You have a lot near the bonfire, can wait to be summoned too... Idk, both are good.

I allways farmed the slimes, but I never knew the leaches drop rate was THAT much higher. Guess ima go farm the leaches instead now, thanks for the thread XD

Definitely the Leeches, but the slimes I used to farm for awhile just to get a weapon to +8/+9 before heading through blighttown.

The iron ring isn't necessary imo; it adds a bit of time, but not that much.

If you have any item discovery at all the leeches drop tons of titanite. They are also significantly less damage resistant than the slimes. Why would you fight something that takes half as much damage and hides on the ceiling, for less than half the loot? Laziness (since the blighttown swamp cannot be directly warped to), or dependancy on a ring (since the optimal way to farm leeches would involve both the rusted iron ring and the covetous gold serpent ring).

Leeches are more numerous, easier to spot, easier to kill, and drop more. As long as you can afford to use the right rings and bring a way to cure poison, you should definitely go with the leeches.

I get to the Depths, pick up the large ember, then farm slimes for 1 large titanite for each item I want ascended. Then I see Andre before I run off to Blghttown, farm the leeches and get them to +10 at the bonfire.

Easy.
