Far across
I'd think that of all the places that are far away from every other place would be the undead asylum, mainly because the protagonist has to have a bird fly him all the way to Firelink. This is not to mention that we never see how much time the flight from the Undead Asylum takes.
the mountians cry
This is somewhat of a giveaway since the undead asylum is surrounded by mountains. As we can see in the cutscene when the large bird picks us up with it's claws and flies away with us there are mountains everywhere in the background.
with wretched scream
Hollows can be heard screaming both here and in New Londo Ruins screaming. Unless if my memory serves me wrong.
who wait to die.
I would not be able to directly quote but I believe in the opening it does say that the hollows are to be locked away until the end of time until they can finally die.
Chills of dark, no warmth of light
The undead asylum tends to be a pretty dark place mainly because the only thing that can be found are hollowed undead (aside from the protagonist). It also mentions weather and because of the high altitude at which the asylum is placed one could assume that the asylum is also very cold as well.
I must escape, with all my might
There is a tie between the asylum and the archives seeing as both are used to house prisoners so this portion of the riddle does confuse me a bit more than previous parts. Seeing as the protagonist is imprisoned at both parts it is hard to say whether or not this is the Archives or the Asylum. It does seem to point more towards the Archives since you can see that at the beginning of the game the protagonist has no hope of escaping, but within the archives it could be said our protagonist does have hope of escaping.
That last part confused me a bit, but I'm going with the Undead Asylum.

Very precise reasoning of deduction. We shall see if you are correct

It could be undead asylum or painted world of ariamis.
Far across,
Painted World of Ariamis is bigger than Undead Asylum
the mountains cry,
Undead Asylum is surrounded by mountains, but the Painted world is ON a mountain.
with wretched scream,
This could be either since the hollows in both the painted world and the asylum moan a lot.
who wait to die.
This fits better for the asylum since, although there's not much to do in the painted world but wait to die since you're stuck there(King Jerimiah), the people in asylum are being forced to wait to die.
Chills of dark, no warmth of light,
This works for both but is slightly better for the painted world since it's darker(night) and colder.
i must escape, with all my might
This works for both again. The chosen undead and oscar are both trying to escape the asylum, but the chosen undead also has to escape the painted world.

I was just invading in the Paint World a couple of days ago and I can actually say that that is actually a better contender against the Undead Asylum than The Duke's Archives.
It makes it a bit harder but I still think it's the Undead Asylum. The only reason why I think that is because Priscilla doesn't hold us against our own will unlike the Asylum Demon. She actually tells us to leave when we finally reach her.

No warmth or light...hmmmm...I'm saying Painted. Asylum is kinda obvious, and Samurai is too smart to leave such an obvious answer....unless...... :?:

I am thinking it is the undead asylum. I thought it might be the painted world when you mentioned cold, but you also mentioned it being far away. I don't really see the painted world as being far away from anything, since it is a world within a world, or a pcket dimension in a way. Distance would be irrelevant. So, therefore it must be the undead asylum. Also, you mentioned I must escape with all my strength. You are trapped there, like a prison, with the focus being on you and not someone else and the denizens wishing to leave. A prison would be like this, but the painted world is not. Priscilla almost begs you to leave, and shows you the way out, whereas the asylum demon tries to kill you when you attempt to escape the undead asylum, possibly twice depending on if you kill him the first time.

Technically their is no sun...so no light, and the painting is full of nothing but undead, so it seems they are already dead ruling out the "undead" part being a major factor in determining the Undead asylum or painted world. And, escape with all my might seems like another painted world factor, since their is no bonfire travel, only a one way ticket out. LETS also remember, that you can return to the undead asylum, and things have changed for the players benefit, while returning to the painted world yields nothing, so why would you escape something will ALL YOUR MIGHT, just to return to it? I also find it VERY ODD, that a raven is waiting on the edge of a cliff...it almost seems like he was expected to escape...

I don't mean to pry but since this was a "riddle of a week" I would love to know what the answer to the riddle was since it has been over week since the riddle was presented to us.

The answer to the riddle was the Undead Asylum, however it was pretty obvious it would seem. So this next one is going to be quite harder lol
