    You know what I would like in dark souls, a wear machanic on your armor, skin, weapons, and bosses/ enemy's. like when you were hitting the asylum demon in dark souls didn't you feel like cuts should have formulated on his legs and peaces of his flesh should have fallen off? And when your pvp ing wouldn't it be cool if your armor and weapons would chip and wear out? Or if your enemy back stabed you there would remain a hole in your Chest? I'm thinking if a enemy keeps hitting you your body would slowly start to look more hallow like as you progress through the game and the flasks would just heal your life force, and humanity would slowly heal your flesh back on like make it take 5 humanity to make you full human? And maybe a new kind of back stab whe sometimes it lands in your shield arm shoulder and just takes the arm off to force you to use just you weapon to combat people that turtle, but only have that special back stab happen after you shred there body up after a long match, and minimize back stab damage so matchs are more fair,

    No Gore in my dark souls o.o

    the feature would be ok if you take away the "full human" and the arm falling off. We arent ready for that yet it would cause dark souls to get banned like man hunt.

    Providing it's done at a reasonable level. Too much gore get's old and repetitive fast.

    Actually, if there is no unnecessary violence (like God of War), i might like some realistic effects.

    Makes no sense to chop through someone with BKH and see them slowly fall on their knees and do that dramatic last breath where they give you their souls

    Normally some blood adds to realism, and the ability to toggle gore on or off in games doesn't bother me. But the Souls games have an art style and aesthetic sense that runs contrary to this. Gore is a self-contained visual cue separate from the rest of the game. It would distract the player and diminish the impact of the emotions the developer intends to solicit.

    Imagine your first fight with Gwyn. The haunting soundtrack begins. He rushes you, wildly attacking with all his strength. You realize that you are fighting a shell of a deity and that you have been tasked with what is basically a mercy killing. You continue fighting, learning the patterns of a god-turned-crazy-homeless-man.

    Then you stab him and bits start spilling out. Scene ruined.

    No thanks.

    I like your thinking but I don't think gore has much of a place in dark souls, it tends to distract from the impact of an event as it is usually overblown and unbelievable. Imagine if when you killed Ciaran her arm fell off and there was blood everywhere instead of the chilling fall to her knees and fade into nothingness there is now.

    I do like the idea of you chipping your opponents armor off then making that part of the body vulnerable though, that'd be an interesting dynamic if it didn't become gimmicky.

    Not if it makes the game run like crap.

    Also, having arms that can be chopped off etc can sometimes look really awkward and not fluid at all. I'm not opposed to the gore at all though... Anyone remember the game 'Die by the Sword'? You might wanna check it out OP. And also check out that new Chivalry Medieval Warfare game happy

    Anything that unnecessarily adds to the required processing power of the game: no. I'd rather have silly blobs of blood spraying out of enemies as usual and never have the slowdowns of another Blighttown a million times over a slight increase in detail at the cost of performance.

    The only thing they need to adjust with the physics engine is the ridiculous ragdoll stuff.

    Maybe as a killing animation against other players, but otherwise it would hard be hard to include and (imo) pretty poinless. More varied dying animations would be nice though.

    In what way do you mean killing animation? Do you mean something like Skyrim where it slows down and does a unique camera angle? To me those type of kill cams ruin it for me, though something like a normal swing hits that sweet spot when your opponent has really low health and just slices them in half up the middle with vertical swing up from a claymore.

    I don't mean any cinematic things, but some kind of dismemberment would be easy to add and it would bring little spice into ...well...death.
    There are already different animations for death in Dark souls for different kinds of attacks (piercing leaves the character holding his/her stomach, fire makes them struggle for a second and then fall etc.) all I would want is little more kick into these animations, nothing too fancy.

    Ever played RUNE? you could chop arms and heads off with game changing effects, shield arm= no more blocking, sword arm= no weapon, head= Death you get the idea. It was so much fun.
