Powerful Scythe Build

I would call this one "Pure Perfection". Scythe's moveset is one of the most devastating, and it's one of my favorite. I got 61 poise for getting me covered from any Dex spam so I can execute the deadly R2 combo. 1900 HP. Heal for arena. Bow for poison and luring. I ditched GCS for Priscy's Dagger because it was too heavy. I always use the scythe 2H anyway. Opinions????

To swap SKS forgot about that.

Why short bow? Composite is stronger and doesn't put you over weight.

Short Bow lets me fast roll if I ever have to swap SKS. I could get composite but I don't want to go below 1900 HP for more equipload. I like to round numbers lol.

because shortbow is awesome damnit! good build dude, but use the scythe, its better and i think its the perfect counter to the great scythe.

I suck with the halberds, but I'm decent with the GS/LHS.

Actually this could be more powerful if I could somehow use GMW instead of resins.

Hidden Weapon is an interesting choice since most people aren't familiar with the scythe's moveset, especially the R2 combo. Could swap between the 2 for fun.

It is a seriously underestimated effect. It works well with the great scythe because of the long reach and any other unfamiliar weapon really; if you buff before the invader sees you, you'll catch them off guard and drive them mad trying to correctly judge the spacing due to ever present lag.

Many good lols were had using it at the Kiln.

Great Scythe is a heavy hitter with GMW, I have a build that buffs the GS with GMW and you get AR approaching 700, it pushes it up a tier in terms of damage.

I love the sprint r1 specially when you turn it at the last second. The backstep r1 is quite effective also even more so with the DWGR, but I prefer to roll with the wolf ring.

was going to comment on the poise but yeah.. forgot the whole scythe part for a second.

HOWEVER i feel you should have another armor set on swap with less poise and more defenses. you won't always need 61 poise and swapping armor is simple to do before the real fighting begins... if anything just for casual duels, because the likelihood of spears and kats is pretty high in arena.

there's not much to really say about the stats unless you decide to get a gcf... which i feel would be splashing pyro rather than setting up useful combos for that scythe...

you've got a dwgr, leo and rtsr to swap that wolf ring too im hoping?

the prisc dagger.. that's really questionable tho man. yeah you can cancel backstab attempts, but you've left your defense up to keeping distance, rolling and 2h block.. that's not a clear cut decision you're making there man, and i think its a safer bet to go with the shield... but it's up to you.
i mean look at it like this.. you want to cancel bs attempts on your 2h moveset right.. well, you actually might not have enough time to swap and swing. you can defend yourself from backstabs with the stationary 1h moveset, yeah, but now you can't block cancel thanks to the dagger.. idk man just get rid of it. flog it dude...

OR use a shield and unequip it when u feel u have too.. the fist punch is faster.
you might even be able to cancel a backstab with the pyro gloves r2 man.

When I'm using a scythe I rarely very rarely block. I'm always using it 2H, I find the 1H moveset slow and useless compared to the 2H. It's like using a greatsword 1H prior patch, waste of time since 2H was superior. I equipped the dagger because the shield (GCS) was too heavy. The only way I would use the dagger is if I get aggressive enough and I feel the enemy is about to bleed I spam the dagger in hopes of getting 50% bleed. But it's rarely used.

greatswords 1h moveset is amazing.. it was prior patch as well.

and the scythes 1h moveset's r1 is better than 2h... its 1h moveset is very viable in it's own right..

i mean, what are you going to just dash r1 and use r2's 2 handed exclusively? why would you abandon a completely different move set while 1 handed?

get any kind of shield, something small.. just have it.

The one handed moveset is almost the same except weaker and the dash R1 could be useful for dead angling. But I've tried and at least for me I see no reason to use it over the 2H. Greatsword's only useful 1H moveset prior patch was the Claymore's thrust. But for example a MLGS was almost always used 2H.

I agree with Wyrm on those dang one handed attacks. I like using its one handed running R1 and R2's, but not its normal R1s. I can confidently say they are near-obsolete on the side of its R2s. The only time I'm pressing R1 with the Great Scythe is for the running attack, a backstab, or a riposte.

what a waste of a moveset..

kick -> 1h r1 spam

roll r1 and r1 will rip you right the hell out of a roll if it connects near the end.

the 1h dash r1 is great for mind games and dead angling. the sweep starts right behind your right foot, so if you dash into range and press r1 and crank the analog stick back and to the left the scythe lands right on them and dead angles 100% of the time, and if they try to roll bs the sweep will often hit them and you'll both be face to face.

1h r2 you can also apply the same technique above, and it'll land the scythe right on them and help for people trying to roll stab... but it keeps you stationary and uses the full scythes range in almost a 360 degree angle. it'll even hit careless spear users.

and the jump r2 is a great follow up to all of the scythes r2s.. not only does it give the 1h moveset more range, but it's unparryable.

whether you choose to face them or turn away for a guaranteed dead angles is up to you, but neglecting to have a shield to block cancel whiffs with that things silly..

heck.. ONLY using the great scythe or lifehunt and not using its 1h moveset or r1s is not only a total waste, but leaves you as a predictable target.

the least you can do before you dedicate an entire build around a scythe is consider its completely different and viable 1h moveset.

Oh f*** totally forgot about the roll R1s, which are faster when 2H. lol.
