Don't upgrade it to 15 unless you plan on going at least 27/40.

+15, then stick a pine resin on there, works better, look it up on youtube for help to

Gold Pine Resin adds 150 lightning damage to the weapon. Base damage is only around 250 for +15, and those stats aren't going to give enough bonus damage to be worth mentioning.
Lightning +5 has about the same base damage, and adds about 250 lightning damage.
