    Saving Solaire. Empty Saving Solaire.

    Post by Bloodpact91 Mon Mar 11, 2013 8:53 pm

    Hi ,

I got a question. On my new SL55 Gwyn coop build , i just left the sunbro convenant just so i could save Solaire. After looking up how to do it on the Wiki i did as i was told and killed the maggots that would have infected solaire. The only problem is , the Wiki says there is 9 to kill, and that if i did not kill them all , Solaire would get infected. I killed all of them , but still i can only count 8 bodies , i even reloaded to make sure one of them did not hide somewhere , but no still 8.

So is the Wiki wrong and i'm ok , or did i just left the sunbros, while maxed out with them , for no reason.

    Thanks,

    Bloodpact 👽

It means be a darkwraithNo but seriously. Just play. It's not like you can change anything now if you can't find the last one

Maybe , but i got the sunlight maggot on the second one i killed. And the wiki says this:

You must kill all nine of them. Do not leave a single one alive, and do not cross into Lost Izalith so that that area loads before you have killed all nine of them. If even one is alive and you enter Lost Izalith, then Solaire will be attacked by one and turned Hollow - so kill them all. If you miss one, then when you come back to the shortcut corridor, you’ll find Solaire with one of the bugs attached to his head, and you must kill him.

To save Solaire you only need to kill the Sunlight Maggot. That is the one with the red eyes that lit up the dark. None of the others are necessary to kill to save him.

Edit: Also, you don't have to open the gate. If you have "Poison Mist" or "Toxic Mist" you can breathe through the door, poisoning and kill all of them.

wow! thats one awesome tip, thanks! It will make saving Solaire that much easier, but, is it worth it? I mean....is saving him the right thing? At least he finds some sort of... comfort... with that thing stuck on his head.

According to the director of dark souls, in their canon he goes on to link the fire in his world after he helps us link our own (...ignoring the fact that he can't solo the lord of cinder of course). so yes, it's best to save him from himself.

Solaire on his home turf, with flasks, in an outdoor arena with some sunlight.

The Lord of Cinder does not stand a chance!

I've never done this before so I'm just curious - what benefit is there in saving Solaire? Do you get some item or a miracle maybe? Or perhaps a different ending or some cutscene with Solaire? Thanks

I think all you get is the ability to summon him for the Gwyn fight.

The reward for saving solaire is that his summon sign is available for the final boss. If you're playing offline, that is by far the best possible reward of all time.

Similarily, if you work your way to NG7, this is the best reward of all time if you plan to do any ganking... : P

Also I've heard solaire is prone to doing "Praise the Sun" after the lord of Cinders falls dead.

I have no confirmation that what I've said is true, I've just heard a lot of players make claim of this.

Of course I'm incapable of seeing if this is true myself... I always kill him before or at Anor Londo.
