While I agree it's best if I find what works best for me, I still want to hear others ideas and thoughts, what they like and if they suggest something I have never seen even better.

the Bul Cherokee is a awesome handgun, ive never tried the beretta tho, but i like the bul alot more than the glock, it fits perfectly in my hand, and it shoots like a dream

Had a Glock for awhile. It was ok to shoot and hit the target nicely. But you should test it in your hand and see how it fits. It's not for everyones hand. Glock is commonly used by police and other such authorities in Finland and some other european countries.

Don't EVER buy a Desert Eagle. They are just heavy, expensive and the grouping will be total crap.
And yes, this is coming from a gun nut who lives in a country where pistols are illegal.

Re: Beretta 92 FS or Glock 19?
how the hell did I miss this thread?
First of all, get a rifle.
Go with a .40 Glock. Reliable as all hell, it's not a 9mm, but you can hold much more than a .45.
If you're using a pistol for personal defense, it's stress shooting. In stress shooting, you make mistakes. Take the magazine capacity of the .40, not the .45.
92FS is garbage.
For all of you talking 1911, it's expensive off the shelf, and it's mediocre until you put a lot of money into tuning it. Off the shelf, glock > 1911.
Sigs and FN mentioned earlier are good choices as well, FN being the pricier of the two. Btw, might be wrong, but think it's a Leupold RMR on that thing, not a trig.
Desert Eagle is a novelty toy. If you can afford it, hey, more power to ya.

speaks the truthBIG TIME MASTER wrote:And for the second part, about the 50 vs 45, I have to ask "why"?
If you just want a .50 for the helluvit, you might as well get a gold plated one too. Also look at the Taurus Raging bull line if you like macho man hand cannons for anti-dinosaur defense.
45 is a fantastic round, but without a good amount of practice you just won't be very good with it.
People like to theorize about how it is superior to 9mm or other small rounds because its a one shot show stopper, but IRL firefights don't happen like that. It's not like at the range where you stand up in perfect posture and take your time to aim. More than likely you'll be behind some kind of cover or running to some kind of cover while basically blasting in the direction of your target just hoping a round catches it. So, IMO, it is better to have more bullets, unless you're an SF operator and spend eight hours a day six days a week shooting guns.
