Yeah i was trying to get a proper look at some of these too. Couldnt make out much, but they all seemed to be portaits, might be some Dorian Gray type thing, thought maybe the sheer number of paintings might also be a 'painted world' hint. . the painted world could be Ariamis' private gallery, maybe Ariamis is gunning for you but to kill him you need to destroy his painting, that would be cool.

As of yet, I believe they are just miscellaneous. But they will function well as materials for dreaming up a backstory, behind the seemingly wretched place.
