    this really blows, I stopped playing because of it. 99% of my summons fail, I though it was bad before but this is a real pain in the ***.

    This might explain why I had a lot of invaders fail to enter my world yesterday at Anor Londo. I was waiting at the interior bonfire to be summoned; the bonfire would dim, my character would stand, a minute or so later, the bonfire would re-ignite. SL97 or so.

    I never understood the resonance ring problem on PS3.

    1st it didn't work. That part I get.

    Then patch 1.06 made it work. I saw them on PS3 and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

    Then they suddenly stoped working. I don't get this part. How does something suddenly not work?

    I think it's a common occurance. I do testing for software and usually when they add a new feature or even enhance an existing feature... something breaks.

    As a dev, I'd have to agree. Something inevitably always breaks, especially when you make changes to software infrastructure that you need to reflect on in many different classes and lines of codes.

    Hacking online to kill people in PvP is bad enough but this...

    I don't understand why someone would do this. You know they would be very angry if someone did this, or another hack to them. Why would they do this to someone else?

    Also, I think this could be classified as a cyber crime. Think about it. If you hack into a bussiness server without permission, then you would be punished, even if you didn't really screw anything up. If you did do some damage, then your punishment would be more severe. Isn't hacking someone else's game the same thing?

    Here's another scarry thought. If From is patching a hack, then it's probably popular.

    That's iffy. Legally, you're talking about cyber intrusion(the first part), in which case these hacks are not cyber intrusion, you don't illegally gain access to someone else's system without their permission as it's part of the game. Another form of passive hacking is cyber intrusion coupled with reading of data you're not authorized to read, something else that doesn't apply here. However, when you modify someone's data, you are entering the realms of data modification hacks, of which you can be prosecuted for.

    The same reason you get little ****s like the sansive video. I think some are just downright nasty others are just hopelessly bad at pvp and spread their misery on to others.

    I haven't been prompted to download the patch (at México); but I haven't been able to even play online. I recieve a message that says there is no connection to the server or something along the lines of that and I know it isn't my internet connection since other games/features that depend on internet work fine.

    I am on a PS3 btw.

    yeah, In nyc and nothing yet, guess I wont be playing for a bit since Im having a hard time getting invaded or summoned seeing as most of the people I pvp with are from jp and eu.

    The thing is, what might cause something to break between updates?

    Resonance was fixed with 1.06, but 1.07 didn't break it. It worked for a couple weeks or so and then broke "by itself" between patches. The code couldn't have changed or start behaving different, without an update, after working fine for a while right?

    Maybe there was a PSN update that possibly messed it up? I can't recall. It would've been around 1-to-3 weeks after the launch of 1.06.

    Also- US here, no patch yet.

    Here's an illustration of why something may break after weeks of running.

    Consider an empty container (data register) that fills over time. If the container fills, then overflows, that data could extend upwards or outwards, or even start over, and overwrite other data.

    It could be anything that breaks the way a program runs, especially if it has to run in conjunction with other stuff. Your code could be perfectly fine but if you rely on someone else's code, and their code is changed without taking into account how it would affect yours, yours gets broken. I can't explain resonance rings as I don't know how they work, but a PSN update could've broken it, or (since resonance rings rely on DkS own PvP architecture) it may not have been built to handle the demands of heavy usage.

    Honestly though, anything could break code.
