so it's well known that the moonlight sword is the trademark of fromsoft and is going to be in dark souls 2........so what do you think it will be like?

in demon souls it went through shields

in dark souls it fired beams of energy

im hoping for a ultra greatsword moonlight sword haha

Is should transform into a laser gun that fires at the speed of light and offers no reaction time for enemies.

To be honest I was never really a fan of the 1H strong attack would not mind seeing that replaced by another swing type

If the one handed strong attack got replaced with a swing, it would be the strongest weapon in the game.
Even now it's extremely fast, especially by greatsword standards.

I guess, but the 1H strong attack is pretty useless as it stands, you pretty much have to be not moving to get hit by it. even unlocked it is still pretty difficult to lead people properly. perhaps lowing the swing speed to be in line with other greatswords would fix the issue

Lowering it would only make it harder, as it would lose out on phantom damage...

Sorry what I meant was replace the 1h strong with another swing and move the swing speed to be in line with other greatswords to counter-act the potential opness of the moonlight greatsword.

Due to the fact that the MLGS does pure magic damage, replacing the R2 with another swing would be outright OP. Doesn't matter how much you nerf the R1, the fact is you can stunlock with any weapon as long as the R2 gets the stun, from there R1 spam would just finish it unless they knew how to toggle-escape, which I rarely see in random invasions.

I can see that, but then wouldn't that be true of any greatsword that had a decent moveset? I mean take a quality build claymore at 40/40 and +15 the claymore does 524. It has very effective stunlocking combos like the running 2HR1 into 2HR2 followed by a standard 2HR1, but I wouldn't really call it overpowered or that it overshadows other strats.

Also I honestly feel that the pure magic damage doesn't really matter that much, considering that a Moonlight Greatsword +5 at 40 int does 472 which is 40-55 less AR than any other greatsword that does only one type of damage (also excluding the cursed Greatsword of Artorias and the crystal greatsword as well as the flamberge, but that does have a bleed effect.)

I feel that, for the most part, this comes out to roughly the same amount of damage dealt once defences are accounted for (this is also assuming the enemy is not using the crown of dusk.) This becomes less true when the enemy is using heavy armour as heavy armour generally has weaker elemental and magic resistances, but at that point stunlocking isn't as much of an issue

I'd like the Moonlight Sword to change into:
    Straightsword if it is balder
    Mace if it is Thorolund
    Straightsword if it is Astora
    Axe if it is Swamp
    Scythe if it is Delta

Or overall a Ultra Great Sword

You could call the moonlight greatsword a "guest weapon", it's from another game. They're not going to change its weapon type. The moveset may be different, but it will remain as a greatsword.

about all that will change is which magicish stat it scales with and whether it has special attacks or a passive bonus.

It was a very wide one-handed broadsword in one of their games. Forgot which, but somebody posted it a while back. I'd like to see that return. Change up the formula a bit.

The moonlight double-bow sword that can be used as a bow from afar and would split into dual short swords when used in melee.

i would love to see it as a strait sword, kinda like the BSS but with a thicker blade and faith scaling.

leave it as intelligence based scaling with pure magic damage, give it the move-set of a bastard sword and it should have a small passive magic defense bonus and block 80% magic damage. since the faith stat boosts magic defense i think it's fair for int builds to have a method for boosting magic defenses as well, at least while using the sword anyway.

the two-handed strong attack should be a wind gust attack, similar to the sanctuary guardians, that sends a blast of wind that will break guard, stun or knock-down. it could do some damage but would be more for busting defenses than doing any significant harm.

the one-handed strong attack should be the normal strong attack of a bastard sword but completely ignore shields, because screw you turtles!

I don't know, maybe I'm alone here, but I was sad when I found out that in Dark Souls they had changed it from Faith scaled to Magic scaled. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking, but it just felt right as a faith weapon in DeS (my first and main character was a faith build that used the MLGS a lot).

I mean just the act of finding it in DeS was awesome as well. Having to cut it down, then fight off a horde of slugs and then yank it out of the ground like Arthur and the Sword in the Stone. Can't wait to see what you have to do to find it in DS2
