Hey guys, I am new on here but not new to the souls series. I have an idea I would like to share and hear your feed back. I think it would be cool to have quarter staff weapons. This would allow people like me to really try and build a Monk/Druid in Dark Souls 2. Maybe some spells that give you a feel of druidism or monk like. Obviously I think they would be dex with faith since druidism and monks do not deal with magic but faith in nature. I think this could be awesome without having the need to create a whole new class. I think having weapons and spells can let the player like myself play out this. What do you guys think? We have mages, why not druids?

Re: Quarter Staffs/Monks/Druids???
I would like to see the idea expanded on as well.
However, one could argue there already exists an element of that in Dark Souls. A paladin is unquestionable, and there is the catch pole...seems monk-like.
Also, welcome to the forum bud!

Welcom good sir/maam, but yeah seems legit... and as for RP, I would definitely agree, love those druids
Though I would expect a dex/faith build, as you mentioned, but the spells should be Nature-oriented for the druid's sake. Maybe there could be a Good/neutral earth covenant, mostly for co-op, with their own specialty spells?

Re: Quarter Staffs/Monks/Druids???
I would like to see them, but in a more precise way.
I want a WEAPON, something with significantly lower MagAdj but with high AR. We already have the Demon's Catalyst, but its reach is too short. Crystal Catalyst is too short. Tin Banishment is weak if you aren't using the base stats for it, because you can get something better. The only good one is Manus Catalyst was a good idea but it halves casts and it screams "I'm using Dark Magic".

Re: Quarter Staffs/Monks/Druids???
I am glad to see positive responses. I think a druid or monk may fair better with weapons like a staff, or fist weapons. I think so the developers didn't have to add another starting class since I am sure they have them set already, they could design faith type spells that are nature based.
Here are some ideas boggled around in my mind hopefully to explain this better. I am trying to keep pros and cons so that non of my ideas seem OP or broken. let me know what you guys think.
-I think a spell that has plant vines that shoot out and add poison would be cool.
- or maybe a spell that can temporarily have a non humanoid aid in battle like if a druid or monk calmed a beast. You would have to touch the enemy so it would still be kinda risky with huge up side if your skilled enough to get a good enemy to fight with you. ( like the metal boar, Trees, Dogs, Titnite Demons, anor londo flying demons, The clams that drop Twinkling T., Crystal Golems, Drakes, undead dragon, Club trolls, Giant Mosquitoes thingys ect...This would need a limit to like 1 or 2 enemy's at a time for like 45 seconds.
-I see them as a light armor user. A out fit designed for more magic defense than physical.
- Maybe instead of iron flesh , you could have a bark armor spell to reduce lightning damage but take double against fire. ( I hope there will be better pvp spells for lightning in DS2).
- I think since druids can shape shift, they would turn into a non humanoid enemy like say the tree enemy's in the Forest of DS. Or a Dog in the Depths ect... Like chameleon but different for a monk or druid. It would be cool to pose as a enemy lol,
-A cool druid or monk covenant would be really cool like mentioned above. I think a item in the covenant given for rank or joining could be good miracle or weapon and increase in miracle damage or length of miracles for each rank. I think a really cool thing to do, would also have a ring you can wear that can summon you to other same covenant members as you in the druid/monk covenant who are being invaded to help them. The Pro is now you have help on the way with out having to go run and summon someone, Con maybe limit this to only that 1 druid/monk can help you making you unable to summon a 3rd phantom from any other covenant leaving it as only 2 of you vs the dark wraith or dark moon blade. This would be cool to come in and save a fellow member who is all alone without putting the darkwraith or who ever at a stupid disadvantage of 3 people to fight. If the fellow covenant member already has a phantom summoned then the druid couldn't help save him and the ring will not summon you to help them. You would only be able to save a fellow member if they are all alone and in the same covenant. I think this could work well.
-Another spell could be a buff to weapon like bark armor but adds bark to the weapon adding a slight boost of physical damage instead of magic.
-Also like the dark hand maybe something like a pure hand that drains magic or pyromancy at random, usage from the opposing players attunement if grabbed by it. Cleansing them of evil which druids and monks see magic and pyromancy as. So this would be useless if the player being grabbed was all faith. And when used to block like a shield, it is a bunch of bright light aura sealed by water. It could offer good fire and dark magic protection but not good stability or physical protection. Also maybe it could light up dark areas also.
If you read all this, thank you for giving it some time. let me know what you guys think........... I am so freaking pumped for DS 2!!!!!

Re: Quarter Staffs/Monks/Druids???
the more this is being discussed, the more i want a Druid/Monk class/covenant.... :cyclops:
-I like your ideas, especially with the pure hand. But I would think something instead like when you grab them, it's effect is like VoS or maybe it halves their dmg from magic/pyro?
-I also love the idea of the 'bark/stone flesh' which could be very resistant towards toxin/poison, curse, magic, ligtning.
-The 'beast master'(basically a undead rapport for beast) spell would be freakin' awesome( I love to tame a titanite demon).

Re: Quarter Staffs/Monks/Druids???
I had the exact same thought about druid spells in the sequel, I'd love to see them. We have soul art magic, fire magics and Oolicile type spells, but earth magics could definitely be an offshoot of Oolicile magics. Maybe variations of Oolicile magics adopted by rouge mages in the wilds or something.
In terms of pvp uses they could be really fun. A summon spell which can summon an animal (wolf?) familiar, or a summon spell that brings a real low lvl player phanton in the area into a fight (maybe only a phantom tied to the druid cov). The wolf/or red phantom would be low hp and attack, just enough for chip dmg or distraction, and couldn't harm the summoner.
A vine entangle spell that could be aimed out with aoe on the ground that slows movement but allows rolling at reduced speed (a non lame twop type thing). Ilike the bark buff idea too

Re: Quarter Staffs/Monks/Druids???
Those are pretty cool ideas. We should push for this. Its just requires, new spells, weapons and armor with a new covenant.
