Was magic, the upgrade, for shields, nerfed? I see in stats, and I remember people saying it, that the Warrior's Round Shield (and clones) put you to 84.5, but similar to what Fire does now (Sunlight shield, 75->90), now it only goes to 78, making it, in my opinion like a very much worse Crest Shield.

Seriously I'm starting to love it, nothing gets close in magic defense, of course, ironically, I'm using it on my INT character.

Has anyone else seen this? Or is this old news? There are so few shields that could benefit enough from it, that its kinda surprising to me.

I was also amazed to see that Enchanted weapons increase scaling every upgrade! The Dagger goes from C to B and all the way through B to A.

Enchanted has always improved scaling, even before the +1-15 path did.

Seems fine to me, still rolling with my 84.5% MagRed on Warrior's Round Shield.

Only the Warriors Round Shield will have 84.5% mag defense @ +10 magic, the other two wooden round shields only goes up to 78.
Most shields defenses are increased 20% against the elemental damage type you upgrade it to (fire, lightning, magic). For some reason a few of them will gain 0%, 10%, 30% or 40% for certain elemental upgrade paths, but since the increase is in percentages the base stats also decides the final value. For example a +5 Lightning Gargoyles shield will have 84% lightning damage reduction because of its high base stat, even though it only increases 20% with the upgrade. Theres a list here of most of the anomalies when upgrading shields: http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/shields%20explained#Upgrades

They could have patched something after I added this to the wiki, but that would be news to me.

Havel's and Artorias's shield have better magic defense. Along with better stability.

Well actually, the Warrior's Round has 84.5 compared to 90 from Havels, ans 50 from Artorias's. And the Crest Shield (amazing shield) has 80. Artorias Greatshield is useable in PvP because of highest stability (except for the nearly worthless Crystal Tower Shield), if it could protect from bleed and poison like it should, I would suspect we'd see a little more of it as well. But it's requirements of 34 16 are limiting, but compared to its stats and other greatshields this is very appealing. Havel's however weighs 26, you will be medium rolling with it with almost any build, maybe even fat rolling. Its high STR requirement of 50 is also unrealistic when 40 is the big cut off point. It is impressive, and its buff is crazy good, but its still not really a feasible greatshield in PvP.

He meant the Cleansing Greatshield, not the Greatshield of Artorias.
I don't see why people like it anyway, IMO it's just a wannabe Dark Hand.

Yes I agree, it really could use 90-80-80-80 stats to be worthwhile, I really dislike the Dark Hand, but I dislike that shield much more.

I like the idea of Dark Hand, but I just don't seem to get good results from it unless I'm using DWGR where it can be used to exploit the push back when something hits you to avoid being stunlocked, otherwise I don't really like it much.
