I hate how bow and arrows or just archery never works out for me in pvp. i use a lot of souls getting arrows but i just wish they would be somewhat significant in pvp.

Be careful against Bows, because their BS can really really hurt.

Attacking an oblivious opponent can be fatal sometimes with the right equipment and a headshot.

all about timing and good arrows make sure you buy large arrows, and head shots while the attacker is in attack motion is amazing.

Re: Bows in pvp
Wouldnt it be kind of neat if arrows caused a stamina regain pentalty? I mean .. players just shrug off bolts like its nothing, even using a lightening avelyn you need a pretty lucky shot to kill. It could make them interesting in pvp if they had a fill up bar like toxin, and after so many positive arrow hits you take a stamina penalty similar to the one you gain from heavy armour (atleast you did in demon's not sure if dark has the heavy armour penalty too.)
I guess this fatigue bar could be applied to anything, I mean the character does shrug off claymore hits too... haha. But at least it would make a somewhat viable archer build with all the grass munching, child mask wearing shield cresters running around.

Re: Bows in pvp
Avelyn can be your best friend in fights. Believe me it works against runners in player vs player. But just like someone said in an earlier post timing is everything for these weapons. You have to recognize when the right time is to use them. Thats where paying attention to the invaders movement comes in handy. If they are experianced they will almost always never move in a straight line. Though fear can change that in a heart beat. Plus dragon slayer bows are great when used at an opportuned moment. I had this one invader runner jet for the latter leading down that ridge in the darkroot forest. He wanted to use wrath and his buff weapon to trap me. Instead I went to the edge where the second spawn point is in the forest and judging by his buffed sword I took aim and shot him off the edge and into the water. It was funny.
Avelyn is my main second hand weapon because depending on the opponents poise it can cause them to stagger and make it easy to back stab them in the process. But again timing for these weapons are everything along with distance too. I mean you wouldnt want to use these as primary weapons because you would not be winning many fights if that were the case. But with someone who is experianced and adept at their use they can be very very dangerous to face.

Re: Bows in pvp
Well yes, I agree things like avelyns and dragon bows have their benefits, and to an extent I have seen people using Pharis bow's well too. But I have seen maybe one person sporting a regular sniper crossbow or another bow.
I don't mean to say these weapons are completely useless in pvp, but they are very seldomly seen. Just commenting on something that could increase their use. more reflecive than critical post, curious to see what other people think of a stamina hound counter (again, not implying using the stamina items is a bad thing).

Re: Bows in pvp
Yup your right. I would never use dragon bow in a straight up fight. That is just dangerous. Unless I was at a far distance from my enemies reach. That thing eats up way to much stamina per shot. I commend people trying to use them in fights but I do think its crazy. The other night I had some guy invade in the forest and use pharis bow with poison arrows through out the fight. I kept rolling and moving side to side as I made my way toward him and killed him dead on the spot. At least he could have switched to a sword but nope he went to his grave using that bow. He was probalby just testing weapons in p vs p. Don't think he will be using that method for very long.

Re: Bows in pvp
I've heard it's possible, but if you're against some guy who just waits out your shots since they can't be fired quickly in succesion (or faster than rolling anyway) it makes it very difficult to get damage on someone.
guess the best situation would be to bait people with heavy weapons onto you or that have high cooldown and shoot them while they're open.
then again, this is coming from a guy who despises the use of a bow in games

i've seen it too but its always been more irritating than damaging. unless they're a dragon. be extremely wary of dragons with bows.

Re: Bows in pvp
Sometimes the best use of a weapon is not for attacking. I've had some group battles in the forest where guys will try to hide or wait it out and see what we do. I've used a Black Bow of Pharis (extra range) to a) show my partner where the enemy was hiding, and/or b) flush them out of hiding. Hide on me will you? Poison arrow, poison arrow poison arrow.......welcome to the fight sir! My favorite of all time was a phantom who was far enough away where the arrow didn't do any visible damage. He didn't move after getting hit. Obviously didn't recognize what the darker feathers meant on the arrows. Whoops!
Also, one time when I was trying an O&S run I got invaded so I hid on the guy thinking he would take off if he wasn't too serious. He spent waaaaay too much time looking for me (including running right by me once) so I used my BB of Pharis, Hawk Ring and Feather arrows to give him a VERY long distance "here I am" message. He was able to track direction eventually and we proceeded to fight melee. He won sadly
