Darkstalker Kaathe Question

For my current playthrough, I'd like to get the Darkstalker Kaathe ending because in all my previous playthroughs I gave the lordvessel to Frampt. I want to be different this time.

However, I dont want to join the Darkwraiths because I'm perfectly happy as either a Chaos Servent or SunBro. Is that even possible?

When I go to the Abyss, can I still interact with Kaathe throughout the game, and get the ending I want, as a non-member of his covenent?

The two endings you get do not change if you give the Lordvessel to Kaathe instead of Frampt.

To answer your question though, I don't think you have to join them.

Aye, nothing you have done in your playthrough matters considering the ending. The only thing that matters is whether you relight Gwyn's fire or walk away.

And indeed you do not need to become a Darkwraith to keep in touch with Kaathe. Just make sure you place the Lordvessel with his help. Not that Kaathe is very helpful though...
