how to jolly co-op? Empty how to jolly co-op?

Post by xinek Tue May 07, 2013 6:10 pm

I'm on my first playthrough, and I'd like to get more into co-op. The last few times I've beaten a boss, I've tried putting down my sign at the closest bonfire, hoping that I could help out someone else about to go through that level. But I've never been summoned, and I think it's because my SL is too high? I've beaten the Gargoyles, Taurus, Capra, Gaping Dragon, and Quelaag, and I'm at SL 39. Most of the stuff I've read here makes it sound like my dude is over-leveled. I've been hanging on to about 80k souls just to avoid leveling up any more.

So, how do people get summoned for co-op? Do you usually just play the entire game, then start new characters who stay low level?

According to https://soulswiki.forumotion.com/t18310-average-sl-of-hosts-by-are-final-update you're right on track for Sen's fortress.

Do you happen to play on PC? I heard the player base is pretty low.

    ^Beat me to it.

I'd check that list before you do anything else. Also you will have to wait depending on what area you in and what platform you on.

I'd think ither Sen's or the bonfire at the Gaping Dragon would have the most activity for you at that level. Just remember patience is required.

Thanks, interesting link. I guess people overstate their eliteness in general. BTW, how do you find out the SL of the person you invaded? You can only see it if you kill them?

I'm on PS3, actually. I invade quite a bit when I'm wearing the Cat Covenant ring in the forest, and there are plenty of signs around, so it seems pretty well populated. Great to see for an "old" game.

You don't find out the sl.
But, the game tries to pair you with people nearest to your level.
So if your connection is ok, you should be getting people near your level.

Unless if your in the forest or playing as a Darkmoon then you can fight anyone.

Darkmoons tend to invade downward though.
Lower levels are the ones that get picked on.

    But, good points.

That's normal for a lot of new players. The forest is a hell of a tough place for PVP.

The only reason I'm doing it is because I figured there would be some sort of reward for trying to repel forest invaders. But apparently you have to win. I'll quit this covenant when I qualify for the sunbros, I think. Much more interested in jolly co-op than PvP dueling.

39 is good for Quelaag but may take a while to get summoned. Sen's and Anor Londo will be good to get summoned up to about 50

Just got to help someone beat the Gaping Dragon! That was great! bounce

Going to hang out in the Depths more tonight, maybe go to Quelaag's domain later. Good times.

Awsome. Glad you got it to work.

The flickering could also be a reason for slow coop (been doing PvP lately so I don't know).

    Cheers

Flickering is so bad for signs. I don't see mine till I wait a minute at least, which is usually when the time signs tend to disappear from a player's world. I still managed to get a couple of summons for Four Kings.
SL 50 will probably get you summoned pretty much everywhere.
