I want to be able to go out, farm rare items, and sell them to other players for souls in Dark Souls 2. Of course, some things can't be sold and the game would set the prices but still.

Re: Player Merchant
Go talk to Lord of Ash, he can make that reality for you right now in Dark Souls. Probably will be able to do the same in Dark Souls II once it's released.

Lord of Ash is the man who found the bottom of the Bottomless Box.

And the only one who can keep having 99 items when it seems impossible.

Or go to the player help section and establish yourself as a supplier and merchant.

Re: Player Merchant
Well, I meant I wanted it as an ingame function.

Re: Player Merchant
That is kina tied to summoning...or invading for the use of trading, and even since it is not an in-game thing there are players who managed to make a name as the games traders, like Lord of Ash and his business which....Now that I think of it can be used as the closest thing to perfect in-game trading function.

Pointless. This is not a MMORPG we're talking about.Soul of Stray Demon wrote:Well, I meant I wanted it as an ingame function.
Souls games are primary a PvE games with optional online features. We are all glad to have summoning and invasions, so we can co-op and PvP, but the game is really only about you vs the world. About overcoming difficult challenges and the satisfaction of climbing on top of the mountain of corpses you make as you go and say "YOU DEFEATED" when you finally slaughter that mother****ing boss, that has been smashing your face for the past hour. Refer to your first time encounter with Pikachu and Snorlax for further example.

Re: Player Merchant
To be honest I feel that we don't really need this and what we have already is good.

Re: Player Merchant
Only improvement would be making the connection between the players faster. Even in less active areas and in secluded locations, the trade can take more than 30 minutes if the game decides to troll you and will refuse to connect you.
Only DkS problem though. In DeS, the connecting is almost instant.

Re: Player Merchant
I was just thinking since it's already done by people, why not make it easier. Not everybody is willing to spend the time organizing a trade/sale, and this would just make it more accessable.

Re: Player Merchant
I'm not sure I would want something like this, but still, how would they go about it if something like this was added?
Would it be like a salesman covenant? Something similar to Gravelord Servant, but you invade/summon a merchant instead of an opponent, to buy his items for pre-set prices. Or should the feature be available to anyone? Should you also be able to sell items to the merchant, or even trade items of equal value?
- You need items to be a merchant, a lot of them. It wouldn't be much fun to visit a merchant with only 2 green blossoms and a titanite shard for sale, so it's got to be a minimum requirement for items held to be able to use the green eye orb.
- An online merchant should also be a rare sight, it would just be dumb if you encounter a merchant sign every two steps. Maybe the salesman covenant first becomes available in NG++++++, or there's a minimum level requirement to become one?
- What would the level range of the punters be? Anyone above the merchants level should be able to trade, but players of a lower level could use it as an unfair advantage/twinking, unless the prices were appalling.
- Should a merchant also be open to invasions, maybe even robbed if an invader kills him? Or should a merchant sign appear in non-pvp spots, like around bonfires, firelink shrine, etc?
