Okay, here is an interesting one.
Difficulty stops boosting after NG7, but via a hacking device you can set it to NG8, and this causes enemies to once more have a large boost to HP, and a minor boost to all stats, with the exception of soul values.

The difference from NG7 to NG8 is that the first boss goes from doing 423 damage a hit, to doing 663.

-Clearly- I am intrigued. So I've reset my data, and I'm now going to play through a NG8 playthrough as my blaqk knight.

I assume then it would be possible to go beyond NG+8 as well? Are the values that stats increase by with each playthrough just variables based around the number of playthrough you are on? If that's the case, and souls stop changing at NG+7, would it be possible (and would you get normal NG souls) if you changed it to... say, NG+0.5 or NG+0.25?

That would be useful to have for a modded PVP build, easier enemies giving normal souls and easy access to all the pvp areas without AI's getting in the way (as much).

(Sorry if this makes no sense, I'm writing this at 2am running off like 3 hours sleep the past 2 days happy)

Values past 8 didn't seem to do anything.
A value of 10 actually made the game -easier-

    NG8.
The value is set to 0 on NG, and NG+ had a value of 1. Value 7 is where my NG infinity character was set, and NG 8 made enemies even stronger than NG7 did. NG9 had no noticable differences, and NG10 made enemies weaker than they were on NG0, and they awarded half souls.

    Curious, isn't that?

    That is quite curious...
It might be because it can't handle over a certain number? 10 may be taken as 0.5.

NG+10 probably has the same value as NG+1, my guess being that the code won't recognize any extra zeroes.

Also, how about wearing the Dusk Ring if you die, and the only way to get it off is to beat a level? (Kinda like DeS).

I'm not convinced this will be interesting Rynn; let me know if it is.

The problem with PvE is that you know all the enemies movesets.  Therefore, you're just increasing your penalty when you do not avoid/parry.  Same could be accomplished with weaker armour and shield.  Increased HP can be emulated with a weaker weapon.  Am I missing something...?

Right now, I'm finding it interesting invading with weapons/gear I'm not comfortable with.  Such as battleaxe.  I cannot so far get the handle of this weapon (except using the strategy that you can use with any weapon; just backstab them).  The lack of range and the stagger after a miss are messing me up.  I find I get backstabbed quite a bit.  Have you used all the weapons?  Figured them out?  Personally that's what I find interesting.  Still lots of weapons to master (for me anyways.  Don't know if I'll ever master the Great Axe; that's worse than the battleaxe).

You know, i actually beat the game (edit: counted my character's it'e actually 6-7 times). (pVe of course, and i never reach above ng+ for reasons, well to be fair this is my tenth time. it's my eventual decision to beat the game ng+7 with nothin via hacking)

While at first i was going to disagree with you, truth be told though, above poster, your probably right. (cause when a crummy uncoordinated player like me can beat qualog with a unupgraded clay-more, while chugging zero estus. the monster is probably predictable enough)

The funnier thing is though, and it's kinda sad too, I myself never really got tired of the game during the ten times i played it.

This is something i should think more about confused

The hardest thing about using weak weapons is the 4 kings because it's largely a DPS race.  Most other bosses you can dodge constantly.

I got through a lot of my first playthrough with the crossbow, just backing up constantly then shooting it.  Even O & S leave lots of openings if you just circle the room in a clockwise or CCW pattern and only shoot when it is safe, and that's assuming you don't cheese the fight further.  The other bosses are similar; just evading constantly is often all you need.  The big exception is of course 4kings; it would be quite difficult to win in there with unupgraded claymore.  Even the SL 1 NG7 runs use things like red tearstone ring with elementals to make it doable.

SL 1, NG8 playthrough with no armor or shield and a broken sword hilt with zero durability.

At least that's what I assume this path will eventually lead to.  Kinda like dare, double dare, double dog dare.
