Anyone here to confirm if ash lake is invadeable if you put off quelaag? I havent heard of anyone actually confirming it.

You can not put down the White Soapstone in Ash lake nor Great Lake. It will be probable that invading is also invalid.

Re: Quelaag + Ash lake
Is ash lake off limits for multiplayer? Wow that is lame.
I guess that whole zone is a tremendous waste isn't it? I mean the only thing there is the dragon covenant and greater magic barrier. I went down there all psyched up for a boss fight. Lame.

Re: Quelaag + Ash lake
not 100% sure but since there is no 'real' boss in the area except the hydra i would suspect it is not invadable

Re: Quelaag + Ash lake
Yes... no. Maybe Ash Lake. But the Great Hollow? Yesh, no. Ash Lakes, Ok. Great Hollow, No. Great Hollow Already is a bad place. Imagine a Soul Spear or Dragon Bow. Rolling won't be very useful in such a... sturdy area. Ash Lake, sure why not.

ash lake after oyu kill the hydra if the place was open for online
think about it
fighting an invader on a beach no less
having a LOT of space to fight in
i don't know about you but for me the place would be perfect for PVP
i great hollow would be invadable oh god the force spammers

ok, it is not completely pointless, this place hosts a covenant, a mini boss, some nice upgrade materials, a nice miracle and most of all... the end of the onion family quest which also nets you a titanite slab.

yeah, Great Magic Barrier and Titanite Slab make it worth going...just barely, though.

Re: Quelaag + Ash lake
It is an extremelly subpar area in comparison to the rest of the game. Going there I could not think of anything except how rushed this place might have pushed through the development.
The entrance from Blighttown is utter bullshit (secret door within a secret door sounds like some Nolan concept lol). Palette swap boss (it's 2011 for Christ's sake). Ans huge portions of unused terrain.
Great Hollow does look interesting but, like the Lake, it lacks development.
Both these areas were then filled with important items to disguise the lack of actual content.

Re: Quelaag + Ash lake
@papael All that is true on top of the fact that the area has such a cool background and a pretty awesome soundtrack that would have been really cool to fight invaders while hearing.

I think that's the reason I like it so much as well. The nostalgia.

Re: Quelaag + Ash lake
I like Ash Lake, yeah its sorta pointless, but its pretty, and I look at it as a sort of reprieve from the rest of the game.
Throughout almost all of Dark Souls, when you find something it usually houses some abominable monstrosity that wants to kill you and your parents for no reason. Coming to a place where it was pretty easy by comparison was an interesting break. Especially in a Hell hole like Blighttown.
Now don't get me wrong, a boss fight would have been awesome, or more exploration, but I'm weirdly fond of the place.

Re: Quelaag + Ash lake
HEY YOU ALL ARE TALKING ABOUT MY HOME! :x
Its a great place to relax, I offer two tree houses, but I still need to ask those mushroom family to pay me and leave... The beach is great for the kids, but don't let them go too far from the shore. My house lies in the end of the sand, but don't go there. You can call me through the bonfire phone if you need anything. Also the food is amazing, we can kill and eat some giant clams. If anyone is interested contact me: Stone Dragon Bonfire. I accept 15000 souls per day or 5 humanity.

Re: Quelaag + Ash lake
I just warp to Ash Lake sometimes to cool off and enjoy the scenario with the haunting music after a hard day of fighting. 8)
