We all know about Paladin Leeroy right?
The first Undead Paladin who was sent on a mission to retrieve the Rite of Kindling.
Little did he know that the Church had a plan, sending Undead Clerics to the Catacombs, a place where it was highly possible to die on a seemingly impossible mission. Many would die, ridding the Church of Undead and I think that even if one returned with the Rite, the Church would've killed him anyways.
So let's talk about Leeroy, I think that Leeroy managed to defeat Pinwheel and obtain the Rite of Kindling, but instead of going back, he went forward towards the Tomb of Giants for no particular reason. We then see his spirit invading us after we pass through the golden fog gate, this suggests that Leeroy was going after Nito, but since he didn't have the Lordvessel, he hollowed out and haunted the place, but then why is his corpse found near Nito? I think that Leeroy didn't actually go in the Tomb of Giants and instead found the secret coffin that brings people to Nito, I also think he found some Eyes of Death around the area. After reaching Nito it's possible that Leeroy betrayed his faith and joined Nito, this is also possible because you find a Large Divine Ember in the Tomb of Giants and I think that Leeroy brought it there because it created the weapons that Nito feared the most. I also think that when you pass through the fog gate, Leeroy attempts to protect Nito, you however kill him and find his corpse where Nito was.
Now let's talk about Rhea, Rhea and her followers along with Petrus travel to the Catacombs too because they want the Rite of Kindling, I think they eventually find it and later go for the Tomb of Giants, but why do they go there? I think it's because the group also wanted to find the missing Large Divine Ember or it's possible that Patches or Petrus betrayed them much earlier and they were forced to take refuge inside the Tomb of Giants, but I'm not too sure.
Any thoughts?
