Ah hello, Welcome to the Library of Vinheim young student. I presume you are new to studying the lore of Lordran? Well here we accept all evidence to add to our books should it be proper. We have a large collection of books to choose and study from, we also have sorcery classes if you wish to protect yourself when in Lordran searching for lore.
Please feel free to contact the librarian if you have something to revise or edit in our books and he will take a look. If you wish to publish a book from a large succession of discoveries then let him know as well and he will put it in the Speculation section until evidence is confirmed.
(Please note this is not for the pure lore junkies of the game, this is for the newer lore hunters who do not know where to start looking, and to make them feel like they are part of a huge world they can contribute to. Don't be a bad sport.)
- The Age of Ancients:
- In the age of ancients, the world was unformed and shrouded by fog. Nothing but everlasting dragons ruled, dragons who could not naturally die, they nested in grey crags and arch trees. There was an everlasting dragon among them who was albino and scaleless and very much vulnerable. He was always jealous of his scaled brothers. Then there was fire...
- The Age of Fire:
- With fire, came disparity, heat and cold, life and death, and light and dark. From the darkness they came and found souls of lords within what is known as the "First Flame" Which will be mentioned later on. The first to find a soul was, Nito, The first of the Dead. Then The Witch of Izalith, and her Daughters of Chaos, Then Gwyn the Lord of sunlight guarded by his faithful silver knights. The last to find a massive lord soul was The Furtive Pygmy, not much is known about him. With the strength of lords these new gods challenged the dragons, Nito unleashed death and disease, The Witch of Izalith burned their nests, and Gwyn peeled apart their scales with his mighty Sunlight Bolts. Thus the age of fire began, and the dragons were no more.
- The Age of Man:
- Soon the First flame will fade and the Gods will be powerless, so brilliant minds like ourselves can keep the peace on this planet. Some speculate this is the end of the Cycle of the World, where the age of ancients begins again, which can be found deeper in the Library.
- Nito, The first of the Dead, and his Catacombs:
- Nito was granted the Soul of Death from the first flame. He governed the dead and put them at peace, until his faithful companion back stabbed him and took his powers. This is one of the reasons why people think the undead curse might exist, because Nito can no longer bring souls into his domain to rest, they keep coming back to life.
- The Witch of Izalith and Her Daughters of Chaos:
- The Witch of Izalith and her daughters were great fire sorcerers who could control fire with their might catalysts, but when the age of fire started to subside, the Witch of Izalith decided to split her Soul of Life, or duplicate it to feed the first flame. But if failed, in fact it back fired. The Witch created a new soul, but it was not the same. A huge explosion occured which toppled her city over and spread lava across it, a Soul of Chaos was born and it created the Bed of Chaos which is where all demons are spawned. All sisters are known to have been consumed by the Chaos, or corrupted.
- Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight and his Faithful Knights:
- We know quite a bit about Gwyn and his knights, so this will be a longer book but it is quite necessary that all students learn about the God of Sunlight. He found the Soul of Light in the first flame and lit the entire world with a new sun. It was his beacon of power. He had 3 children, Gwynevere, Gwyndolin, and (This part of the book seems to be scratched out). Gwynevere is the Princess of Sunlight, and a godmother to us all. Gwyndolin is the prince of the moon, but rarely shows his face. (This part of the book seems to be scratched out). Gwyn had many silver knights, but he had four special knights. Knights that led a certain branch of silver knights. Dragonslayer Ornstien, the supposed captain of the knights who is said to have split a boulder with his spear. Artorias the abyss walker, The legendary swordsman who saved Oolacile from the Abyss, he was unmatched with his great sword, shield, and pet wolf, Sif. Gough, the mighty Giant, who could take a dragon out of the sky with a single arrow. And Ciaran, The hidden blade, She led a group of assassins who would destroy any enemy of Lord Gwyn. When the Chaos soul was born Gwyn led black knights to stop them, but they failed and now only their disembodied spirits remain in their armour. Gwyn linked the flame, and saved the world from a terrible fate.
- The First Flame:
- People speculate about what this actually is. We know that the Witches of Izalith were associated with Life and Fire, so perhaps those too are two sides of the same coin? Pyromancy is a very simple form of magic, fueled by the spirit and heart of the wielder instead of intelligence of studying. But unlike magic, it can consume you rather easily if you do not tend to it. Perhaps, because souls are the origin of all life, fire could be a fine place to hold these body-less souls.
- The Curse of the Undead:
- This seemed like a blessing from the Gods at first, but then it spread like an epidemic and they became shunned for becoming hollows and attacking people on sight. Not much is known about these undead, or why they are the way they are.
- Undead Heroes:
- This is a larger book with a list of many heroic undead, and their deeds. It shows that not all undead are mindless beasts. Yet.
Logan the Great Teacher - Old big hat became undead nearly a century ago, which is a shame but he did not become hollow. He always talked about the famous regal archives and wanted to learn of the hidden knowledge contained by the Legendary Seath the Scaleless. Not much is known about what happened to him.
Black Iron Tarkus - This famous warrior was smaller than most in his country who are normally massive men. But he is known as one of the strongest, He is one of the few who surpassed Sen's Fortress, and made it to the Legendary city of the Gods. Anor Londo.
Paladin Leeroy - A follower of the way of white, and the first undead produced from them. He was sent on a mission to find the Rite of Kindling in the catacombs with legendary weapons, Grant, and Sanctus. He was not heard from again.
- The Age of Dark:
- (This book seems to have a poorly written title, with some scribbled gibberish on the front page. You find this book is not in the right part of the library from it's alphabetical order and was shoved into it's shelf forcefully.)
They're coming... The dark is coming. I've seen it with my own eyes! Nothing but black... Nothing but black. It's going to kill us all! (The rest of the book is illegible but some parts can be made out.) .......Father of The Dark.... Humanity.... Time travel!.... The great black dragon.... The Serpent... New londo... Artorias... The end is near... Oolacile.
(There are several strange red drawing, stained as if the ink was blood. Many strange symbols and what may be maps and then a drawing of a green thin ring.)
- The Cycle of the World:
- Many people believe that the Age of fire is ending, and a new age will come that will be the rebirth of the age of the ancients, and the world will restart. But some people believe it can be stopped. There is alot of speculation on these things and no hard facts. Many people are still studying the subject.
- The Covenants of the Gods:
- This book contains different covenants in the world that are joined and followed as a religion or cult.
The Way of White - The most famous and powerful covenant, they worship the gods of the First Flame, and wield miracles that was created by them. They consist of Maidens, preists, and clerics. They seem to thrive in Thorolund.
The Warriors of Sunlight - These mysterious warriors seem to phase in and out of time, and appear only in Lordran. They will assist someone in need and are led by Lord Gwyn's Firstborn.
The Princess Guard - They guard the sacred Princess of Sunlight, in Anor Londo. And wield powerful sunlight miracles, led by Knight Ornstien and Executioner Smough.
The Darkwraiths - Enemies of Men who kill them for their life force, souls, and humanity. (Something all humans have, but lose when they go undead).
Cult of Nito - Many people worship Nito to obtain his mighty Occult powers, so they can threaten the gods. But Nito does not give up his powers so easily anymore after what his most prized student did to him.
