How many books are in the Dukes Archives and what is the subject matter of them?

When i get time, i will try to estimate properly the number of books contained in the Archives. At a rough count i have counted around 20 on each shelf and typically 5 shelves per standard Bookcase. so there are approximately 100 books for each "bookcase"

As yet i have not gotten around to counting how many book cases there are. There are also stray books scattered around certain areas.

I am currently guessing that the total number of individual books is somewhere between 250,000 and 500,000.

I wonder what amazing lore is contained within them.

It doesn't make that much difference because if you look closely there's a pattern in the books that repeats over and over again.  There's (I'm guessing but it's probably close enough) maybe 12-20 titles that are repeated over and over.

EDIT: That's not to say what you're calculating isn't interesting in it's own right but it's more of a math problem (I used to be a mathlete so I think it's fun) than anything else.

I'm a self-proclaimed "Wizard" and have spent countless hours in the archives.

There are only 10 "books" per shelf. The rest are merely covers with the pages ripped out and stuffed with Playboys. However, there are also other books that have been hollowed out to hide "stashes".

I really hate to reveal the secrets of the archives like this, but Seath and Logan were just perverts and hippies.

I've never bothered counting how many books there are in the archives, to be honest I think I saw a few books with blank pages.

I'd think the subject matter would probably be about magic, the occult, dragons, and yellow.

It's hinted that it's content is engouh to drive logan mad.

Either that's from the obession of the knowledge from logan or it is contents within the books itself.

We will probably never know, now back to smacking monsters in the face

Most of it must be results of experiments on dragons, scales, crystals and sorcery.
Maybe he also wrote random things that did not directly affect his research, if those books were readable like in the elder scrolls....

I'm sure Seath has all volumes of The Lusty Argonian Maid.

Hmmm.. Seath is (supposedly) blind and he lost all his scales. Now I wonder what would cause that...

How bored do you have to be to count books in a gargantuan library in a video game?

Ever page of every book has this repeated over and over:
"All work and no play makes Seath a dull boy"


Although later on there were the addition of several books with this repeated over and over again on every page:
"All work and no play makes Logan a dull boy"

its impossible for me to count the books everytime i go there seath destroys the the books because he tries to read it

I think i saw a few "Where's Oswaldo" books in there.

I want a DLC, that allows people to be able to read EVERY book in the archives.

This would be the best RPG ever if the chosen undead actually benefitted from those books.
It would suck if he went insane though :/

Or a serious contestant at least.

Imagine if it was like the Elder Scrolls, as you said, and you could actually READ books and gain experience (souls here) or just permanently increase your stats.
