I create a character, actually I've created multiple characters with each having a unique name based off of "Odin". When co-op ing and invading, do the other players see my toons unique name or my PSN ID?

Re: PSN name question.
You know, I figured that. So what is the point of the individual creative names? Besides organization?

Suppose it's way of keeping track of whats what. And i imagine it's a way to stop someone using an offensive name online.

Re: PSN name question.
I've heard rumors that in DkS2 it'll be the character name. I certainly hope so. I've got some great ones myself. The good doctor will finally be taking patients and getting recognized for it.

Re: PSN name question.
People could do that with DkS1 if they really wanted to. They'd just have to do things like add underscores or numbers

Re: PSN name question.
Soul Sacrifice shows you the character name with the psn available to view by looking at the stat page. Stat pages wouldn't work with Souls but I like having both available.

Re: PSN name question.
I like the system they use for pawns in Dragon's Dogam. It'd solve the whole profanity problem that was brought up. You create a name, then choose an alias from a giant list, and have the option for parental controls. Basically if you turn on the parental control then instead of seeing the actual name you just see the alias, and, like Soul Sacrifice, can see the PSN ID in that character's status menu.
It works well, and on top of it you get to give your pawns two silly names. Or even one silly name, with an alias that creates contrast and makes it even more silly. It's a sillyfest.
Heeeeey. 5000! WOO!
And the quad 3's. I'm just going to never post again and I'll keep the quad 3's and 123.

Re: PSN name question.
That'd be nice, but at the same time there'd undoubtedly be tons of inappropriate, flat-out just not funny names. There may be some clever ones, but I'd like the norm to be less outrageous so as to making the more interesting ones actual stick out and have purpose :3PlasticandRage wrote:I've heard rumors that in DkS2 it'll be the character name. Re: PSN name question.
Hmmm, thinkin on it, right now trophys apply to PSN username, not the individual character. I like this.

Re: PSN name question.
Didn't DeS have character names on the NA version? I can remember trying to summon a friend, (this was bk in 2009 btw), couldn't find him until he told me his character name. Also happened with invasions too. If not mistaken, friend was in japan but used NA version, and invaders were too. Maybe it was the way the server connections went?

Re: PSN name question.
Demon's used to display the character's name. Your PSN recently met would show you the PSN ID. The reason you see a PSN ID for Dark is that it is a P2P system without servers - hence you are connecting to the console of that person and thus see their PSN name.

Re: PSN name question.
Demon's Souls had region locks. You could not play with people from other regions from your disc of the game.
I do not know how Atlus and Namco servers were handled, Sony servers showed character names since the character was the only thing connecting to the server.

I know you can't play an NA version on japan or EU servers. I just know bout my comment cause this guy goes to japan for 6 months out of the year. He's actually there now but hasn't logged on in a few months. So I can't ask him

Re: PSN name question.
It depends on the version of the game that you have. If you have the one published by Sony, you play in Japan/Asia servers. Published by Atlus you play on NA servers. Published by Namco you play on EU servers. Your physical location does not matter, what determines your server is where the disc is from.

Re: PSN name question.
I know that. My question is, how come I only saw character names from people from japan? Anywhere else showed psn id's.
That's wut I don't understand. We were all using NA versions.
