Most annoying invasion tactic yet
On my sl55 gravelord sword build I have encountered a very annoying tactic in the painted world. On the bridge where you spawn as a darkwraith Ive been getting ganked by people in full havels with havels shield, with a wolf ring. Meanwhile behind said super havel is a person spamming endless dragonslayer arrows. So I cannot roll past the super havel, and im constantly getting pushed back to the hole in the bridge.

lol'd hard at this for some reason lolSandwiz wrote:Double Shotel?
I just think this is one of those situations where you just eat a loss. I basically just toxified super havel and then got pushed into the hole.

If you get too frustrated, invade next to the phalanx instead. You will spawn next to the phalanx in their world.

I guess it depends on what type of build you're using. I have a 90+ quality build, so I'd work on the archer first. Poison him. Maybe use Gough's greatbow on him.
It's Dark Souls. What can you do? Expect the worst.

If the Archer is close enough, you might be able to dodge an arrow, and have enough time to lob a chaos fireball over the Havel and at the archer. It probably won't kill him unless you have a few damage boosts to your pyro, and even then the host may just heal. Either way the only things you can do in this situation is a massive amount of damage very fast that you can kill the host despite his shield and poise, and manage to do it between arrows. Either that or a war of attrition where you toxin and poison them when you can, shotel every few times, and manage to wear down their health and healing items.

The gankers are evolving and getting smarter. I was stunlocked by three dragons in a circle once that just kept roaring over and over again. They did it in sequence too. One would roar, then the other, then the other, and they kept this up for a full minute before I decided to toggle my way out of it. Ended up just getting clawed to death by them.

Dragon Greatsword doesn't care about your havel's. Dragon Greatsword kills you dead. Two hand DG wear some havel's and get right into the face of the enemy havel. Smack him with a good strong attack or two and you'll break their formation in no time.

Yeh, you get them in the forest every now and then were a host/phantom is in dragon form and one of them roars while the other attacks, it did take them years to get to something that could be called a smart. What i try to do is inflict poison and/or toxic on the dragonoid since a lot of the time when they get a status they run away.

Re: Most annoying invasion tactic yet
Good sugestions, but many of these seem to be build specific ideas. At sl 55 I have 24 str for the gravelord (its mainly gravelord/zwei build) so no massive weapons. 2 attunement slots which are used for pyro. No faith on this tune so wotg is out. Fire tempest takes too long to cast with my dex under these circumstances, and blackflame did very little to nothing aswell. The greatbow user was very very far back, no chance of hitting him with anything. Super havel(max poise) would just press forward and kick every now and then. I did toxify him but that didnt matter, he just pressed on knowing i fall to my death in about 5 feet lol Not to mention dodging the arrows while thinking of a strategy with him pressing is fairly difficult with havels shield in your face.
Overall it is the most effective gank tactic ive seen in darksouls :/ especially vs the build I had. Really it would be ver difficult vs any build. One hit by the great arrows and your basically on the edge of that hole in the bridge.

Re: Most annoying invasion tactic yet
People did that a lot when I invaded in the PW, I'm not all to surprised that this still happens to be honest. Normally I would just try to break their poise before they can do whatever they do but that probably wouldn't help in your situation.
Maybe try to use black flame on them?

Re: Most annoying invasion tactic yet
Try an ounce of prevention instead of a pound of cure. Use your invasion item near the Harpie tower. It's still the same area as far as who you invade, but you'll spawn by the RSS location at the top of the stairs in the Harpie tower. I realize there was a suggestion to use it by the phalanx earlier, but you will get less traffic there. If you're looking for questers, however, that's definitely the spot to invade. I would recommend never spawning on the bridge.

Re: Most annoying invasion tactic yet
This is one of my very favorite tactics! Never used it in PW but the forest and royal wood have plenty of bridges and that's all you need.
Seriously, though, I've only lost while doing this when somebody waits us out somewhere on the other side of the bridge. Invade some somewhere else and set an ambush - sometimes the best way through is around.
And I've run into those gang banging roaring dragons before, three of them in Oolacile. They were incredibly disciplined and organized - I just kept getting stunned and when I could escape one kicked me and the it all started over again. Went on for quite a while, too.
I've never been stuffed in a locker by rowdy teenagers before but I would imagine it would be the same emotional experience.
