PvP/PvE Builds Section
I love doing new toons and I would like people to see/comment on them, but the many of the builds of other people are lost amongst the large number of posts per day of the PvP section. I'm afraid that will happen to the two build ideas that I did this week. I know the wiki has a PvP builds section, but I prefer the forum and that people can write their opinions. Maybe you guys can do a section of builds-only so that they are conserved and everyone can see them with ease.

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
Hmm, people do post alot of stats...to my seems like a good idea but when I posted about making a video section emergence told me that the forum had to recognize that it was really needed and people were going to use that section alot, since making more sections that don't fill up is not very functional, which is very understandable.
So would be cool to see the admins opinions but most of all you need the whole community to be willing to use that section as needed.

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
...Wyrm, do you need me to make a thread?
By the way Yesuurd, I sort of added a section to the Resources thread for videos, though only ones that people could find useful or are important in relating to dark souls.

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
I appreciate everyone likes to have things nice and tidy but I don't see why we would need a sub-forum to the pvp subforum just to have pvp builds, forums will get cluttered fast if we start dividing too much.

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
Clustered in one section of the forum, you mean? I find that many people have narrowed their forum views to areas that they appreciate, sparsely looking to other sections compared to their select areas. For example, some have selected the majority of the forum in PvP and Trade/Help, or PvP and Covenant, Dark General and Off Topic with Covenant, and other selected areas that certain people choose.
By adding a new sub section with a sub section of a section of a forum would seemingly subject part of the PvP section to that area, as that is their premise. Unlike the Tomb of Giants, which archives locked forums that are a portion of The Archives that separates speculation and logic with recorded information of the forum itself, which added something to the archives itself. By making a subsection for PvP about builds would not add, but remove and separate a section of an area and split the PvP forum people to one or another as there primary spot of looking, or just add both as their forum areas of choice.
Not a good or bad thing in my opinion, cause I don't give a damn. But it seems that these factors are not considered well. I mean the people who want this, not you forum people. Don't ge made at me Fex.

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
Like Acid said, if the you guys add the section I will most likely be always on that section. Most of my builds are lost in the high traffic of PvP questions and strategies. I don't like posting them in the wiki, I always prefer the forums.

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
Wouldn't it be eaasy to create a directory of builds that we can sticky and keep as an index for people looking for builds whithin the pvp section?

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
Probably. We call that a thread that holds everything.
Sadly, everyone likes to post their builds in their own posts. Simplicity is not always a target for many, as most don't even recognize it.

They can have their own posts, just someone keeps an eye out and adds new builds to the index

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
Yes, the thread would be just an index, so you copy and paste the link to each pvp build, similar to Tolvo's resource thread.
We can organize them by stat/sl if there are enough that it becomes confusing. I can help with that

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
Acid's idea is great but the builds need names. If I want to search for a build there, I'll have to look at them one by one. Also if I want to create a discussion of one the builds I'll have to wait a long time until the maker of the build realizes that I posted something about his build Acid's thread. It is much easier to follow a particular thread you find interesting than to follow a whole thread of different discussions about different builds. So the builds section is like an archive that would allow everyone to access to any build they find interesting and discuss about it. And is much easier to find builds without the high traffic of threads of the PvP section.

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
Yeah, I only use the wiki for weapon stats and item descriptions though. Also you can't discuss anything about those builds. Not that they would want someone to criticize their babies...

The wiki has a very good page with builds. People posting on the forums are looking for feedback I imagine, so feel free to share your views

Re: PvP/PvE Builds Section
It seems the build threads that get posted get ample feedback and do not get lost in the shuffle. It seems like the poster's get the feedback they need to make tweaks. Typically when a particular type of post begins to dominate a section is when we begin to consider a split, the way we did with covenants. As of right now I am not seeing that being an issue.
Separating build discussion from pvp discussion is like separating weapons and tactics. You often can't discuss one without discussing the other so why fragment the discussions accordingly? If the build nuts begin to stick to the builds section, we lose participation in the pvp section and vice versa.
Furthermore, the amount of threads that start as pvp and morph into build discussion happen so often, it would become a headache to have the mods moving threads all around. Also, threads that start off as build posts often develop into pvp discussions that provide useful tips and strategies. It would be a shame for these tips to go unnoticed for reasons related to separation.
