Thor God of Thunder Empty Thor God of Thunder

Post by Kaminari Sat Mar 31, 2012 12:14 pm

I'm thinking about doing a new character I would name Thor, that will be using the giants smiths hammer, since it's electircal,

Would also use talisman to cast the lightning spears.

as the gears, I would use the gargoyle helm, as a winged helmet.
    Gwyns robe
    Orsteins trousers.
    For gloves I don't know.

Thinking about ring of steel protection/Tiny beings ring/FaP Ring.

    stats would be something like
    Vitality: 50-60
attunement: Enough for the three diffrent lightning spears,
endurance, about 25-30 (?) to be able to make some swings with the hammer
    Resistance: base
    Intelligence: base
    Faith: 50.

What you guys think about this and is there anyone that has seen something out there that remembered you of the thunder god Thor ?happy

I don't think you will need all three of the lightening spells. and if you plan on using lightening weapons I would not pump faith so high, just make it enough to use the spells you need. no more than 30 i think.

The idea is really cool, I have a similar viking one using vamos helm and hammer.

I'd think Vamos' helm might work well too.

Thor simply can't use a ring called "Tiny Being..." though. You'll have to re-name it Massive Being's Ring or something.

I think you would get more bang for your buck using a lightening +5 andre hammer too.

    239 attack stat
    243 lightening dmg

where the giant hammer is made of wood (not really fitting to thor) and only does 180 attack and 300 lightening damgage. plus it scales at a D with strength, so you might consider pumping that stat a little if you want to use the giants hammer.

You could also go andre +15 then you could use lightening resin to give you the VISUAL lightening effect, rather than when you just smack someone with your weapon.

Andre's hammer is the only "normal" one.
So it should work on that.
Vamos already has an element (fire) and so does the Giant Blacksmith's hammer (lightning).

Andre's hammer + SLB would be pretty epic. Also put faith on 50.

I don't know why wyrm is reccomending 50 over 30, since I doubt the vast majority of your damage dealing will be a result of your lightening spears, and the lightning blade spell does not scale off magic adjust as far as I know.

I am not a build master, so certainly look for other opinions. But I just don't see the point in spending an extra 20 points in faith where you could put them in some other stat. Maybe he can explain why. haha

Yeah SLB scales with the Maj Adj of the Talisman. The difference between 30 and 50 faith is 49 maj adj, with canvas and darkmoon talisman, respectively. I don't know if it is worth it, but I will test it soon with a faith build I'll start to make.

I didn't know that, the wiki doesn't say it does either. But if that is the case then I agree, go for 50 faith rather than 30 to get that extra damage scaling and use the darkmoon talisman.

    My two-cents:
    -NO ROYAL HELM
-Pine Resin or buffs on the hammer would break character since his hammer (Mjolnir iirc, likely mistaken) would not shimmer with lightning like the pine resin or a buff would do.

Sorry, vamos' helm got mixed up in this because I mentioned my viking build that uses it, the OP never intended to use the royal helm. It was just me musing.

Acctually, Thor is ilustrated in diffrent ways, so I think that buffing the weapon wouldn't really break him. It would be like it's +15, and Thor will fight, when he gets angry / Serious he might pulse the elecrtic through the body to his hammer happy

    Gargoyle Helm is great.

I would say Silver Knight Body so you can also get the cape.

Iron Bracelets, or Bracelets of the Great Lord for hand gear.

Leg gear I'm really not sure on, though Iron Leggings or Ornsteins seem okay.

As for the weapon, the Giant Blacksmith Hammer, while being the most powerful of the hammers, would be a little too big and wooden appearance would break character a bit, so I would say go with a Lightning Andrei's Hammer +5. With a lightning weapon, I would then say to take faith to 30 only for Lightning Spear and Greater Lightning Spear, but if you want to take it to 50 for Sunlight Spear as well that doesn't seem like too bad of an idea. After that get your Endurance to whatever it takes to medium roll and put the rest into Vit-gouging yourself. If there was ever an Elemental Weapon build that would be fun to fight I'm thinking this would be it happy

I thank you for your kind words. My god of thunder is in progress, lvl 27 atm. Is there anyone here that is on xbox live and would be able to spare me the hammer of Andrei? I just realised I need him alive to be able to upgrade the hammer to + 15, but I need to kill him to get the hammer in first place. Would be very happy if someone could kill him and let mme summon you and then you give me the hammer, I would repay you with what ever I can at other higher level characters.

All hammers I could get, I will accept happy Donations and prized ones. (Only Andreis though) Just tell me your prize (Xbox live, my gamertag is Kaminari san. Soul lvl 20-37 should be allright)

All my characters at that level still need Andrei alive :|

You could use a Mace to start learning the moveset (the hammers share the exact same set as the Mace) until you get the Red Soapstone, and then I could summon you somewhere with that on my Faith build that has an extra hammer. I'll even work on upgrading it for you in the meantime happy

I understand, However, I'm hoping for that there might be people that is having a character they don't really like and are thinking to delete, or maybe a character that is playing through the game in a low lvl and will kill him for me before they go to NG+.

The gargoyle helm is also needed since it did not get it at the boss sad
