Who is Ariamis?

I searched beforehand and found nothing in the archives.
Apart from being the creator of the painted world nothing else is said about him right? Or did I miss something?

He maybe the great artist of the Age of Fire.

Cheers. I red some stuff and will post future comments in there. But this one is really difficult to peg. Not much solid info from the game on him, and in dark souls that means almost nothing really.

Ariamis and Eidas are most likely the Leonardo da Vinci of Lordran. I keep thinking of Anor Londo as some sort of Vatican. Doesn't help with the undead pilgrimage stuff from the start of the game.

There are quite a few people mentioned in items descriptions but not mentioned elsewhere, its kind of lazy to just say Ariamis was a painter, cause clearly he made a world in his painting. But thats pretty much all we are given, make him who you want him to be I guess. Maybe his name is meant to link to some historical name, sort of like Artorias = Arthur. I would never notice.

Yukon is right. All we know is he/she painted a big painting that was either the artist's world or was later turned into one. Wyrmhero I think noticed the resemblance of Anor Londo paintings to works by Rembrandt which are similar to the painted world style. I had made an assumption these were works of Ariamis (with one exception) solely because that's the only painter mentioned in game. The paintings look deliberate but that doesn't mean From intended for all that to come out of it

That being said....Ariamis is Rembrandt. No doubt about it
