Dks Fight Club bs or no bs
i know everyone feels different about backstabbing, its just annoying when youre winning and you get bs'd and lose, i personally never bs anyone in a duel unless i get bs'd firsr. do you guys think backstabbing should be allowed or no? of course pivot backstabbing and circling your opponent just for a backstab are not allowed. discuss.

Backstabs in the middle of a fight sometimes can't be helped. I never go for backstabs, but sometimes the back is there, I attack, and up comes the backstab animation. I think that is perfectly fine.

Re: Dks Fight Club bs or no bs
Problem with allowing backstabs is the fact that it can be subjective whether or not it was accidental.. And the initial idea of it being 'when someone is open' is extremely varying, as lag doesn't help that..

Yea I'm for it. Due to the fact if he's wide open. Why not?

Re: Dks Fight Club bs or no bs
Yes, it should absolutely be allowed. Some builds are weak to backstabs but very strong in other capacities (a slow rolling full-havels with a heavy weapon, for instance). Why should these players get the benefits of their builds without the costs? I don't pivot stab, and I don't circle, but I backstab quite frequently. I'm not going to let someone spam their zweihander without consequences.

Re: Dks Fight Club bs or no bs
i voted yes, why cant people circle for back stabs? its not exactly like circling someone guarantees you get a back stab or anything, and as for pivot back stabs, they are harder to pull off than most other types of back stabs simply because you dont lock on, so they can easily roll out of view, its honestly not hard to see someone going for a back stab, they will either sprint at you, or bait you into sprinting at them, or continue circling.
it is a pretty large feature in the combat, makes no sense to limit it. people say the fight club is for fun, yet insist on a bunch of rules? general courtesy is probably the best option, if it indeed is for fun anything should be allowed, twop, firestorm, whatever.
that's just my opinion.

Re: Dks Fight Club bs or no bs
all spells are allowed and yeah i voted yes, but no cheap tactics like circling to backstab, you know when someone is doing it cause they get closer to you and just circle around you, its easy to notice what theyre trying to do. the thing with the rules is if theres no rules its gonna turn into the kiln and this is gonna be over before it started.

Re: Dks Fight Club bs or no bs
can we get a unique rank of "Mr. Deurden" for rant please?
also okay, i voted thinking it was asking if we wanted everything with backstabs including pivots/circling... cancel that one out

Re: Dks Fight Club bs or no bs
the only thing im trying to say is dont use cheap tactics and play honourably, the reason we're doing this is cause im pretty sure we're all sick of shitty matches at the kiln and everywhere else.

Re: Dks Fight Club bs or no bs
Circling for a backstab is just another form of a pivot backstab if you just circle to the right. It allows someone to get the backstab animation w/out being behind them. It's a broken mechanic and while it is common it isn't fun to play against, and IMO isn't very fun to play as. The fights are short and if you have two backstabbers it's just a circle jerk.

I have a lightning claymore and a lightning bastard that I may use. I also have a chaos flamberge that I might use (similar moveset). I hate the zweihander.

It's really tough to say. The flamberge has that nice bleed, which really comes into play when you're facing a turtle or someone trading blows. But it seems like the claymore does more poise damage. The bastard sword is a real poise killer, even though it lacks the range of the claymore and versatility of the flamberge. Anyway, I know the claymore is typically viewed as a somewhat cheesy weapon, but I can't deny it for builds that don't have the stats to wield most other heavy weapons. If nothing else, the lightning claymore is king of the elemental backup weapons for primarily int/faith builds.

Re: Dks Fight Club bs or no bs
There's been some good points made already, and it seems like this thread is leaning positively towards backstabs already, but I just want to add a little something:
Let's keep in mind the reason we're doing this Fight Club to begin with. It's for fun. Because we want to have some friendly dueling among members of the wiki. Possibly also because some of us are tired of the ******** we get in the Kiln.
So, having said that, yes I am for allowing backstabs. I'm pretty sure everyone here knows when they perform a fair backstab, and when they perform a cheap one. So just try to keep the cheap ones to a minimum! And keep with the spirit of the club: it's for fun, friendly, and fair duels. But hell if I let my back wide open while casting go right ahead and capitalize on the opportunity! (Yes, I will be bringing my Mage into this club. )

people keep going back and forth on which one actually does more poise damge, the clay or bastard gs. does anyone actually know for sure?
