Maybe this has been posted elsewhere. I know that a lot of people have spent countless hours researching and speculating on the lore of this game. But the other day I was just thinking about what "Lordran" means. I thought Lord was a clear reference to the "Lords" who fight the dragons. "Ran" immediately reminded me of the Kurosawa film of the same name, which is an adaptation of King Lear, and which means, in Japanese, "uprising" or "revolt." It can also mean "disturbed" or "confused." The first meaning is more easily applied to the the world of Lordran - Lord's Uprising. But I do think that we can all agree that Lordran is definitely disturbing and confusing, as are its lords.
So that's all. Also, see Ran. Great movie.
This should be in "The Archives," my fault.
