No estus run - Deprived, no gift

I really want to try this. The infamous "pendant or none," hint bugs me. Thinking about doing a Deprived, no gift, no estus (use) run. Ultimate deprived. I heard it's impossible, but what if I did a faith build with healing miracles. Get drake sword with 12 dex bow by shooting tail, starting that way. Overleveling in general. I dunno, I would love to try, of course there will be no way to prove it, unless I find something secret and take a pic. What do you guys think?

I think you're insane. If you do manage that (best of luck to you) and find that it's too easy, try the entire game without resting at a bonfire, or without using any healing items or spells at all. Or both. *cue ominous thunder*

Though a no bonfire, no healing run sounds pretty damn trying. Would be a nightmare to lose against Ornstein and Smough, only to have to run all the way back there from Firelink! lol Not to mention you'd have to go to Firelink every time you want to level up, then make your way back to wherever it was you were... I'd probably use homeward bones.

Now that I think about it, sounds fun! I might be down to do a no bonfire run. Not no bonfire and no healing yet, though.

Edit: :shock: Must make sure to remember not to let Lautrec kill Anastacia! That would be my only bonfire to level up from... Unless I do all my leveling before letting him kill her, then after that the next time I level will be at the firelink altar. Hmm...

I feel like this has been mentioned before, though. I don't know if it was done, but I think it was discussed.

No bonfire includes Firelink shrine. I don't even know where you spawn if you die before you get to a bonfire.

I think this is a brilliant idea, though I reckon pretty possible I mean, not like you need to heal if you just block and dodge EVERYTHING.

DWGR with Eagle shield combo sounds like it

@Quarik: you spawn on Firelink automatically if you haven't rested there. And when a bonfire is out, you can still spawn there.

If firelink is not allowed, then like I said I'd do all my leveling before Lautrec kills Anastacia, then no more leveling until I'd placed the Lordvessel.

But if you don't rest at a bonfire how do you level?

If you die before resting at a bonfire in Lordran, you will respawn in Firelink. Also, if you die in the asylum with no bonfire, you respawn in your cell, if you die in the Painted World, then you spawn on the bridge, and when Seath kills you and you go to the cell, you will respawn in the cell.

If you do a no bonfire, no estus, no leveling, no healing run, then you wouldn't respawn at firelink, you'd probably respawn in the asylum.

No, once you're in Lordran you respawn at firelink, you don't get sent back to the asylum. Otherwise there'd be no reason to find the secret way of returning!

And I'm not quite masochistic enough to be tempted to do a no bonfire, no leveling, no healing run...

At least you retain a bit of your sanity.

I always wanted to try a no bonfire run. You get a fully kindled amount of estus and you go through the rest of the game on those and any divine blessings you can find.

Sounds like fun.

What about Seath though.

^Would just have to make sure you rest at the Lordvessel once you're out of the prison. Would be annoying to die somewhere else and be warped back to the Duke's Archives! Also, would have to remember not to light the boss bonfires--specifically those you can't walk out of the room from (Nito, BoC, 4 Kings)--use a homeward bones instead and go back to the Lordvessel, from where you can warp to firelink.

I did an almost no bonfire run. I used all the firekeepers bonfires only (including Ash Lake). Once I cleared all areas, I killed all the Firekeepers and the only bonfire lit was the one at the Stone Dragon. The most difficult run is defeating Nito, because if you die at ToG, you respawn at Firelink. It reminded me of Demon's Souls, because the shortcuts really helped this time.

Sounds like a crazy idea, but if you have the mental make-up/skills required to pull it off, go for it.

LoL no bonfire would be too much for me. But I still want to try no estus deprived. Going to start that tonight. I'm sure people have done no estus before, I'm just trying for deprived/no gift to see if anything triggers. Wishful thinking, but at least it should be fun

Well, I made it to Firelink. lol. I think I'm going to throw down my "I can't take it anymore" orange soapstone and play my other characters... at least until I get all the achieves. Then maybe retry no estus. sorry

If your going for a no-estus run, then it would comletely ruin the purpose by using healing spells..... either way something like this would be next to impossible.

I'm just curious why you think this (re: the use of healing spells, not the difficulty, which I agree with). For lore purposes, Estus and healing miracles are very different. Estus is linked to the soul of the fire keepers. This run isn't meant to challenge, it's meant to uncover lore secrets.

Though I guess there would be no way to control if you did co-op and host drank a flask.
