Age Of Empires 3.

So anyone got (or heard of this)? I'm rebuying it for a fiver off Amazon, since my copies are broke. Me and some friends are going to have a nostalgia fest for months with this. Anyone is welcome to join, just drop me a line.

In AoE3 there are railways are there not?

3 is great , lots of improvements on 2, and it's still got an official online service and works on windows 7

dont have it, but i played the hell out of AoE2, i might pick it up if i can scrounge up some funds

I could never really get into 3, AoE2 is where I like it at. I'm glad to see it still gets support.

Has anyone gotten into the somewhat new online version? I'm not allowed to put it on the computer but it seems it may be worth trying out.

Blasphemy it is.

My strategy was always simple. Boguard all of the stone and build my city outward in concentric circles as i blast through the tech to build a wonder in the center. Any attempt to destroy it had to pass through 4 or 5 fully functional and autonomous layers, each with their own army by the time the layer before it falls. Or run everyone over with swarms of teutonic knights.

The biggest flaw is that i need tons of stone so either i have to fight tooth and nail for it, or i need an ally thats the industrious type so he can give me supplies while I protect him within my walls.

After some looking around I have found Age 2, and for fiddling around for an hour I've got it working on windows 7 (still kinda not perfect all the textures are crazy). There is no official online support for 2, but there seems to be alternative fan sites hosting servers I'll go have a look round see which seem to be the best. I'll happily play 2 with you guys, I'll just have to split my time between this, 3 and Guild Wars!

Ok so I found a service called GameRanger, which you can download http://www.gameranger.com/ . This allows you to play online for AOE 2 and many other games (RTW Star Wars Battlefront ect) for free. So if you download that and add my account name WarriorOfSunlight, we can get some games going with people here on the forum.

i never really got into 3...might be because i just loved aoe2 SO FREAKIN MUCH! and yes, i have gameranger already specifically for aoe2 games with people. and im totally in for online games with all of you in it.

That's great and we need to agree on a patch version to play on. I have 2.0a which may be a bit of a problem, everyone seems to have just 2.0 lol.

So..... Paladin spam, what's the best way to counter it?

Uh, Pikemen/Halberds?

I think Walls/Archers may work as well. It's been forever but I do believe horsemen trump ranged units.

I tried the Pikemen, they have too little hp to survive a swarm of Paladins. The only solution I have is to spam Elite Teutonic Knights with all the upgrades from the blacksmith.... but it's expensive.

I bought it two years ago when it was on sale on Games For Window's Live for $0.10....SERIOUSLY.
