Well, he CAN walk on the lava when you summon. So, I guess that makes sense. But I didn't know he had it on ALL the time.

Re: What makes an NPC tick?
This fact has eluded me completely, didn't read the solaire topic until you mentioned it. I guess it makes sense because you can summon him for the centipede fight.
I added a bit of setup info to some characters on the wiki a while ago, but haven't had the time to complete it. I guess it should be listed on each npc page what armor/rings/weapon/spells they are using, as well as special traits.

Just a minor thing i noticed. The crystal knight you meet on your way to seath can parry, with a crystal shield.

I noticed this! I get SO MAD when I see this. Lautrec can also use his heavy attack on the left hand.Spurgun wrote:Just a minor thing i noticed. The crystal knight you meet on your way to seath can parry, with a crystal shield.
Since I don't have live, I've been experimenting with NPC's again.
So without further ado, here is Solair of Astora
Anomalies: Solaire uses spell combinations that can NOT hit for the damage he hits during the battle. I've adjusted his faith to meet these standards.
Solaire can heal himself: yes, he can. But for some reason, he never seems inclined to do such. The only point in time I've ever seen him heal was during the battle with Gwynn; Lord of Cinders. (perhaos he does not have it attuned for other fights?)
In New Game +, he uses Great Lightning Spear.
In New Game ++, he uses Sunlight Spear.
Solair has 50 attunement, but only 8 (9) spells. I think this is related to the requirements for the sunlight covenant.
These are his stats in New Game, no plus's... Stats get really funky in New Game + and beyond.

Any point where YOU fight him.

(replace helm with sunlight maggot during that encounter)
Solaire has a 40% higher resistance to physical damage then he should, and he has a 60% backstab resistance. (40% less from most sources, 60% less from backstabs... not 40% and then 60% more.)
Solaire drops 4% of his soul value for invaders killing him. Solaire did not seem to have increased defense when I engaged him in a normal fight.
I find it interesting that he has a level of 120, as nearly as I can pinpoint.
I'll be doing Lautrec next... I can't imagine I'll be too impressed, seeing as he uses both the Red and Blue tearstones...

Re: What makes an NPC tick?
I would be running around with a crystal shield all the time if i could parry with it :x
Why does Lautrec use both rings? Only one of them is from carim, the other one is from catarina IIRC.
1+ for your work

Re: What makes an NPC tick?
I could be wrong, for the life of me it looks like he uses the blue ring, because my rapier starts doing 4 instead of 11 damage... but I could be wrong, 'll find out.

Well Lautrec is a complete jerk, he could have just stolen it off of a soldier of Catarina.
Isn't that church owned by Catarina?

The church in parish? I don’t think it’s owned by anyone.
And lautrec probably killed some catarina guy for the ring as you said.

I've seen (felt) this, but didn't realize until now that the shield can only bash.Spurgun wrote:Just a minor thing i noticed. The crystal knight you meet on your way to seath can parry, with a crystal shield.
Reah is also able to block with her fist.Rynn wrote:Lautrec can also use his heavy attack on the left hand.

Well, since you can loot it off him, that would suggest he isn't wearing it. Because were you to remove it from his finger, it would stand to reason that it would break, would it not?

Re: What makes an NPC tick?
Doesn't Leeroy use Great heal? He's supposed to be a member of the Way of the White so he shouldn't be using Sunlight. He also like 3 Wrath of the gods Attuned to him as well.

Re: What makes an NPC tick?
Maybe he's got both great heal and sunlight? The forest hunter cleric uses sunlight, but she shouldn't be able to either. I've only seen him use wog as a bp, at least as far as I can remember. He also hits the bonewheels for almost 2k damage in ng+, which sounds like a bit too much: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgzLKCVic5wFallen Angelus wrote:Doesn't Leeroy use Great heal? Re: What makes an NPC tick?
I've never had him heal more then 3 times as either a phantom or black phantom, myself. interesting about the forest cleric though she usually dies before she heals for me and the few times she has she never full heals so I assumed she only had regular heal.
When you stand next to White phantom Leeroy does heal you as well? If it does it proves what it is, It annoys me when NPCs ignore their covenant restrictions... That said Black phantom Leeroy doesn't need sunlight anyway since great should more or less full heal him and he's on his own.

Leroy has never used Wrath of Gods on me, not that I necessarily disbelieve you. I thought he just spammed his weapons special.Fallen Angelus wrote:Doesn't Leeroy use Great heal? I didn't know he could heal either, so I've probably just never fought him enough.

Run over to her if you're a member of the forest covenant and the host nearly killed you, but hasn't fought NPC's yet. She'll immediately spam healing on you. It's a Princess spell.Fallen Angelus wrote:I've never had him heal more then 3 times as either a phantom or black phantom, myself. interesting about the forest cleric though she usually dies before she heals for me and the few times she has she never full heals so I assumed she only had regular heal.

Re: What makes an NPC tick?
Strangely I've never had Leeroy use his weapon's Wrath of the Gods, he's always used a talisman. On that note his talisman seems to be a Brown color so it's either the thorolund or canvas talsimans, right? Thorolund seems the most likely. I've also only gotten him to heal if his health gets below about 2/3rds of his bar more then that even a little and he just seems to attack. Hmm maybe he only uses Wrath if he already gets his Talisman out from healing? I wish I had someway to make a Video, But alas I can't

He sometimes uses the weapons aoe against the wheel skeletons, it will kill them even if their pyromancer is still alive.

Doesn't it do that if you use it? It's a divine weapon.

Re: What makes an NPC tick?
Since it came from the weapon it would since the weapon is divine, sigh, I wish actual miracles counted as divine :{

The wheel skeletons don't revive, even without using divine weapons.ublug wrote:He sometimes uses the weapons aoe against the wheel skeletons, it will kill them even if their pyromancer is still alive.
But aside from that... his weapons WoTG is divine, so his weapons WoTG silences things forever too.

It shouldn't. Divine isn't supposed to work when phantoms use them. That's why white phantom players don't use divine weapons.
