Question about PVP

When you kill someone in PVP whether they are a host, phantom, spirit invader. You get souls when you kill them. My question is, how is the amount calculated? I've been told it's different percentages of their accumulated souls. I've also heard that there's a strange formula that calculates a number using their SL and equipment?

If you kill someone who is invading you, you get 50% of the souls they need to level up. If an invader kills you, they get 10% of the souls YOU need to level up.

This is reversed for gravelording however. If a spirit invades a Gravelord through their sign, the game treats them as the host, so killing an infecting gravelord nets you half their level in souls, and killing an invader invading through your gravelord sign gets you 10% of their soul level cost.
