Dark Souls Fan Mini-Series!
Hi there Dark Souls fans! We are a small film group currently working on a 3 part mini series based in the Dark Souls universe. We begin filming in July, but have a teaser trailer up to give you an idea of what we are aiming for. Also, our team has a facebook page, where you can follow our progress and view our other films (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Parallel-Digital/196421670481114)! We are die-hard fans and hope to portray the specific mood and themes that Dark Souls embodies.

Re: Dark Souls Fan Mini-Series!
Just watched the trailer, definitely got the setting down. I'm curious on how you're gonna set the mood and pace, as well as how long each part will be.
As dough said, welcome to the forum.

We are glad you are excited and interested in hearing about the pace and mood! Those are two of the most important things going into the making of this project. We won't give these details away just yet, but will have a video detailing our approach and more. Thanks again for showing interest!

Re: Dark Souls Fan Mini-Series!
You are the same people who made the prophet aren't you?
Also a little thing I've noticed is your props and attire, they look a bit goofy though are fairly accurate. That's just sort of how these things are, in most fiction they get played up and are designed in a manner to appear amazing, when sometimes this gear just looked a bit silly on a person. There is a way that I think you guys could counter this though, and this approach is actually something you see in Dark Souls. If you examine most of the armor sets you'll notice they are heavily worn with scratches, light cracking, and other wears of metal. It might help to really sell it if you guys do damage the armor and weapons, if only slightly to give them a lived in feel. As well never forget with how many faceless characters there are if you have an actor with the right body but not the voice, you could just add the voice over later though that of course will increase the editing work. Though if you are indeed the same people who made that Prophet short film, it seems like you have your editing in the bag.
I know these are pretty simple suggestions, but they're just in case you guys hadn't considered them yet at this point.

I don't even think we need the resources thread. You are a living, breathing resource of the community.

Re: Dark Souls Fan Mini-Series!
Quick question. Are you gonna have someone in the eastern set or black iron set?

Re: Dark Souls Fan Mini-Series!
I was a bit curious about what armor they were seeking as well. I saw they are seeking donations in regards to setting up costumes, so maybe some information on that might give people more incentive to donate.

Re: Dark Souls Fan Mini-Series!
One armor set we are trying to recreate (which is also stated in our campaign) is the elite knight armor set. We also are going to try to recreate the wanderer, warrior, as well as a hollow soldier or two. The more funding we receive the more authentic these episodes will feel. So if you can't donate, please spread the word at least!

Re: Dark Souls Fan Mini-Series!
I wish it was more than a 3 part. A full-game series would be freaking awesome. Though, you'd need some heavy CGI for every single boss haha! And then every single mob after the undead burg.
PS: I'll try donating next paycheck as well. I'd also love to see the Pyromancer Set :3... and a female character wearing it. Hahaha! For serious.

My interest has been piqued. I would also love to see miracles/spells/pyromancy being implemented via special effects.

Donating is really simple! You just click on the 'contribute now' button. Once there you just follow the necessary steps, and choose credit card or Paypal! Also, depending on how much you donate, depicts what 'perks' you receive!Kaminari wrote:I'll donate a few dollars by my next paycheck, if I figure out how the donating progress works

Re: Dark Souls Fan Mini-Series!
While this is a mini series remember, if a group gets enough support from fans as well as donations I could see them being interested in making more.
The Hollow Warrior set sounds like a pretty good idea, you do need enemies after all and you could always do minor alterations between scenes to give the appearance of variety despite only a few actors using the sets.
I assume you guys also have someone for doing some good make up to make them appear properly hollow?
