Nope, they extended them. Alost of people think it was a publicity stunt to get more people to say "oh no I got into Dark Souls but I've never played Demon's Souls! I need to get that fast before they shut it down!" And then when everyone got it they extended the servers :|

(haven't been paying attention much these days, been playing too much Day Z (and crying that I can't really anymore)). Also, never underestimate the ability of a person to not read titles Reaper, its impressive
