First let me be clear that this is NOT intended to start any more "my console is better than yours" ********. This game has been out a few months now, and I'm wondering if any of you have both versions, or have seen both being played recently. The reason I ask is because with tax refund time upon us I think I may finally break down and get a PS3. If this happens I will definitely be picking up Demon's Souls, but I am also wondering if the amount of people playing Dark Souls on PS3 is significantly larger than on Xbox...like large enough of a difference to justify picking up another copy on pS3. This is easily my favorite game of this gen and while I am still enjoying the hell out of it, it can get pretty lonely at certain times.

Re: Population Differences
Dark Souls has A LOT more people on PS3 mainly because the community that plays it started with Demon's Souls which is a PS3 exclusive. Also, in Japan, Dark Souls is a PS3 exclusive too, and there is a HUGE community of Japanese players for DkS and DS.

That might explain why I get so little action.

Re: Population Differences
Someone posted some stats on the number of copies sold on both consoles. PS3 was around 2.5 times of 360.
Note that most japanese players have PS3, while other players are rather evenly spread.

Re: Population Differences
My friend has the xbox version, in comparison to the PS3 population, (this might sound a little biased) but it is barren.
I saw sales figures somewhere and in EU and America, there are 3 times the number of PS3 players to Xbox player so yeah, your call.

Re: Population Differences
As far as PvP goes.
When I enter the Kiln and use the red eye stone, it already starts with "invading another world", so like 2 seconds waiting time + loading time of course. Can`t say there is not enough action, though co-op signs sometimes take some time to appear.

Re: Population Differences
Yeah thats what i found too, with PvP duelling in hotspots and such there is plenty of online action, it's just if you want to do some coop for fun you'll be waiting longer than you would on PS3 :|

Re: Population Differences
I went with the Xbox version because none of my PS3 owning friends planned on buying Dark Souls. I'm sure the population is greater on the PS3 but I never have an issue with invading or finding signs for co-op. Also, I never invade a Japanese expert that whoops me in 5 seconds. I can honestly say that had I not wanted to co-op with my buddies, I would have gone PS3 though. Control design works much better with the PS shoulder buttons.
