    It says you can speak to Hawkeye Gough as a NPC. So I'm going to assume
    that the Prepare to Die edition is jumping on the Prequel bandwagon,
    because Hawkeye Gough was *supposed* to be killed by Pharis. Or, if not,
    he is dead, because his ring is found in Anor Londo. Only one of the
    Knights that is alive is Ornstein, but you kill him anyways.

    Well, that and because you get to fight Artorias. And Sif, again.

    Yeah, it's confirmed that you go back in time during the DLC. Hell, how were we gonna fight Artorius in his current state (dead)? Beating a corpse for several minutes to win the boss fight?

    Ghost would make more sense. The black knights you fight all over the place are ghost too.

    All the black knight died when the first flame was kindled so all the black knights you see are ghosts.
